An Amazing but Very Different Birthday Card

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all well and relaxed after the weekend.  We had a quiet weekend, we celebrated Paul's Birthday yesterday,  Becca invited us all out for lunch and her Pub, We had an amazing lunch, she even had a cake made and came out singing Happy Birthday with some of her Waitresses,  such a lovely gesture.

Becca now manages 2 pubs in Burford (Cotswolds) they are opposite each other on the High Street, she was telling us that all 18 rooms of her Hotel were booked out and Burford was heaving with people from all over the world, you'd never think we were all supposed to be Social Distancing, the shops and Tea Rooms  Pubs and Restaurants were all packed!  It felt good to drive away!! Although it is a stunning place, the massive hill makes it tricky to navigate both in a wheelchair and on on Crutches.

Today's card is Very Different,  Paul and the Girls love a programme called 'The Walking Dead' (its all about Zombies (very bizarre and not my cup of tea)!

Sophie made this card on Saturday evening, the outside or front of the card is a scene in the show, its a boarded up hospital ward,  with the warning daubed on the door in black paint, she had captured so much detail,  from the grain on the wooden plank that holds the door closed to the shiny kick panels on the bottom of the doors. I also love the red on the edges of the doors which is blood,  you will see the same blending on the inside of the card too.

The card opens up to reveal a cutout of Paul made to look like 'The Governor' with Zombie hands grabbing for him, the attention to detail is just amazing,  needless to say Paul loved his card.

I hope you all have a lovely day ladies,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra                                                                            xxxxxx

  1. Morning Ladies

Sandra-glad you enjoyed your lunch out for Paul’s Birthday. His birthday card has do much detail on it-I’m sure he was thrilled with it & how clever of Sophie.

We had a great Skype session with my in-laws yesterday afternoon & I phoned my Dad in the evening who was very chatty and didn’t moan too much (it’s his favourite pastime)!.

It’s been raining all night and it feels a Much better temperature, hopefully it’ll be cool enough for me to head into my craft room after work to get started on some birthday cards.

  2. Morning everyone

What a fabulous card, love it.
I know the program, used to watch it with Son 😊
Glad you all had a nice lunch and could celebrate Paul. Sending him well wishes x

It's been raining so much all night and the tapping against the windows kept me awake so feeling a bit zombie like this morning 😴 so hoping our walk will wake me up so I can start on some cards later. I'd like to to make another fold type but it is all in inches so πŸ™πŸ˜„
Have a nice day everyone. Many hugs for you all and extras for our Lynda and Margaret, hope you doing alright xxx

  3. Hi everyone
Fantastic card by Sophie, so talented. As soon as I saw it I thought ‘The Walking Dead‘ James used to watch it, and not my cup of tea either!
Glad you had a lovely day yesterday and a nice lunch out.
Heavy rain this morning and a lot cooler, looks like it’s going to be like this all week. So typical as I’ve got the week off work and it’s forecast to rain! Mustn’t complain though after the heat last week ☺️ At least I’ve got plenty of time to craft if I can’t go out πŸ˜‰
Hope you all have a good day.
    Hugs to all xxx

  4. Hi Sanda & ladies
A very different card for Paul from Sophie. I’m glad he liked it. That programme wouldn’t be my cup of tea.either Sandra.
I’m glad to hear that you all had a lovely lunch at Becca’s pub. It was funny when we were chatting about the pub to find out that a relation of Sue ( Pete’s brothers wife ) is married to the man who owns then. A very small world isn’t it. I wonder if they have come down to visit her brother since Pete’s funeral.
I’m not surprised that Buford was busy with visitors as the shops are quite small. A bit surprised that it had a lot of foreign visitors though. I don’t suppose they were all wearing masks outside like the Japanese do. They showed St Ives on the TV a couple of weeks ago and it was heaving. Too many people in to small a space. It’s still very dull hear and although I haven’t been outside I expect it’s still muggy.
Take care & stay safe everyone.

  5. Hello, dull and hot.

Not sure that Paul’s card would be my choice, it’s very clever, I’ve never seen the programme , not sure I’ve even heard of it . Glad Paul liked it.

We are still waiting for the rain which is forecast every day, watering is very tiring.

Might try and make this weeks card, I had one ready, but then posted it and forgot to take a pic.

Well I hope you all have a good day, if you’ve had enough rain, send some our way.
    Hugs to all, Lilian

  6. What a fantastic card I love it No wonder Paul loved it Very apt too at the moment! What a talent Sophie has
I’m glad you enjoyed your meal I love to go out and eat Saves me having to think about what to cook AND I can choose something I wouldn’t necessarily cook at home (eg curry as OH hates it)
It is worrying to see crowds let alone foreign tourists I still won’t venture very far
    Take care all x

  7. Hello Sandra and ladies,

What a fantastic birthday card Sophie made for Paul, I bet he really laughed when he opened it. Thank you for sharing it with us. Sounds like Becca has a lot on her plate managing two pubs, but then she has never been work shy has she.

We had our granddaughters visit this afternoon, weather was nice outside so we sat outside and were able to enjoy there company. Tierney is returning to Leeds tomorrow, she has a studio flat for her base this academic year and is so happy. . Last year she was in a student house with five others, It’s going to be very different.

Take care and Stay safe, Love Brenda xxx
