Shades of Brown....

Good Morning Ladies,

Well as I am writing today's post I still haven't heard from GP,  so I will have to update you later, annoyingly I won't be getting any antibiotics tonight if I need them!

It was another chilly day here yesterday,  temperature didn't get into the + numbers!  It looked like there was a white layer on the ice too so not sure if we had a tiny dusting of snow, it was -5 when I went to loo at 4am!  As it got later in afternoon it became very foggy,  so maybe that will make a difference to temperature.  I tell you one thing this house is an absolute nightmare to keep warm!

Today's card was inspired by a card on Pinterest, the name was Lollipop crafts.  I loved the colours as soon as I saw it and had the papers but like a lot of things I hadn't used them yet.  I must admit I don't generally go for browns, although I adore Kraft card, hessian , twine etc.  My base card is 4 1/4 X 5 1/2, I then added a Brown mat and then added two pieces of Abigail Rose Dsp to the brown mat, adding a piece of 1 inch hessian and topped that with a piece of Crocheted Lace, instead of stamping a sentiment on a piece of card,  I used a piece of that wide hessian and placed it in my stamp tool, as I knew it was going to need more than one inking, as the ink would be absorbed by the ribbon.  I ended up inking about 4 times to get even coverage.  I like how it looks though.  I didn't have any brown gems so I got creative with some cream ones, I pushed them into the brown ink pad and then added clear embossing powder and heat set,  trapping the colour that would otherwise wipe off under the embossing!

I hope that you all have a fun Thursday,

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra                                                                                  xxxxxx

  1. I love your card I must try using things like ribbon more often
I think you can colour gems with alcohol markers You wouldn’t have to faff with embossing powder then

  2. Hi Sandra and all looking in. What a lovely card today. I love that floral paper in particular and doesn’t the sentiment work well stamped on the hessian. I will have to try that as I also love Kraft card and all of the brown and cream tones. I hope you get to talk to your gp today and get some help. I’m thinking of you my lovely xx
I hope you all have a good day whatever you do. Sending hugs. Take care xx

  4. Hi everyone
A beautiful card, love everything about it 😍
A longer day at work today, so I’m only just sitting down now with a cuppa to warm me up! It’s been a cold, damp day here today. They say it’s getting milder but it doesn’t feel like it yet!
Thank you for you kind comments on the baby 💙 I think they’ve decided on the name Theo 😊 I think I’ll be ‘Nanny’ ☺️
Hope you’ve all had a good day
Sending hugs to you all xxx

  5. Hello Everyone, it’s been lovely sunshine today, but still bitterly cold.

What a different card today, love that paper, and the tape, must admit I would not thought of stamping on it.

Saw the GPs pharmacist, yesterday. He wants to increase my ramipril, but the rest stay the same. My sugar count has gone down, so he was pleased with that.

Started a card today, not done much yet.
    Big hugs to all. Lilian
