A Pretty Boxed 50th Birthday card

God Morning Ladies,

A sad day for our family today as we say goodbye to a much loved Dad and Grandad, Our Hero, he was very proud of his career in the Parachute Regiment which will be reflected today at his funeral as he is being given a full Military Honours send off, with representatives from the Regiment he was so proud to have been part of and of the many associations he has spent his retirement supporting, The Royal British Legion for which he was the local Secretary, a variety of Veterans associations, he organised and accompanied many elderly Veterans to Arnhem every year so that they could attend Remembrance Services, something that her really loved doing.  So we will be standing very proud as a family today. It will be a tough one I have no doubt, I think that sometimes we take for granted that to us he is just Dad or Grandad but to so many others he was very important too, we witnessed this reading the comments that were left under the announcement of his passing, Paul and I were sat in tears reading them.  Right we are now off to give him the amazing send off that he deserves.

Today's card is the one I made for the lady in the village that asked me to make a card for her Daughter's 50th Birthday, she liked the card that I made for Adam's Mum a couple of years ago (she saw it on FB when I shared 10 cards in 10 Days).  I didn't have the same paper so I used the same Vintage Lace Collection papers in different shades, I made the box first using Centura Pearl card for a bit of Luxury, I added a mat of the Vintage lace card to the lid and then picked an accent colour and die cut a slightly smaller Hexagon and added a narrow lace trim around it, adding another piece of the paper this time with a pretty floral focal point, I framed the central panel to give a nicer finish.  I created a matching Tag but didn't adhere it to the box as it worked so well without it, however I thought that they might like to add her name, so covered all options.
For the card, I used another Hexagon die to create the card base, I then matted and layered the card front in a similar way as the box top, this time I added a shaker element, with the greeting chosen by the customer, I added some tiny sequins and beads in matching colours, I popped in a few tiny die cut flowers too to tie in that accent colour. I then spent a good few hours making Foamiran flowers using Foamiran that matched this collection, I arranged the flowers around one side of the card, adding some foliage and some paper flowers tucked in too.  The opposite side was finished with a bow in matching coloured narrow ribbon, I finished the bow with of the tiny flowers. The inside I made to match the outside, I added the message that the lady wanted, leaving room for her to add her own words.
I am relieved to tell you that she absolutely loved the card,  thank heavens for that I could relax!

I hope that you like it too,

I hope that you all have a lovely day, wrap up warm if you venture out as it is super chilly,  especially down here by the coast,

Sending my love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra

  5. Hi everyone
Absolutely stunning card and box, real keepsake forever.

Hope today went well as a day like this can be. Many memories and interesting life I'm sure that Paul's dad had. Sure he had some stories to tell you all.

Did some cutting outs this morning but that as far I got to make a card. Thought I start on some spring cleaning so got around in the lounge with hoover and duster after moving all the furniture to the side. After that I couldn't do anymore sadly so just watched some tv before it was time to make the dinner.
Sending hugs to you all xxx
