Sympathy card

Good Morning Ladies,

I think that these are the hardest cards that we have to make, mine is for Paul's cousins as Paul's Uncle the lived in Alicante sadly died last week.
He had come home to stay with his family while he had his treatment for Pancreatic cancer, he seemed to be doing Ok but he passed away in bed from heart failure.  In a way I am glad he was back here having treatment otherwise he would have been on his own in Spain when he passed as his wife died a couple not years ago from lung cancer.  Trouble is they saved everything and sold their home to move out to Spain in retirement, the bought a flat on a new housing complex near a huge brand new golf course, the shopping centre for the complex never got built, neither did half of the rest of the estate, no body bought the majority of the places so it was like an unfinished wasteland, so the amount they paid out for the place was wasted in effect, they couldn't afford to move back to UK either, then the huge golf course closed down too.  They are now stuck with trying sort out what to do with the place now, I think they will be stuck with it, as it's a Long way from the beaches or anything remotely touristy!

The card was made using 'Hopeful Thoughts' stamp set for the pretty floral flourish, I stamped it using that  delicate flourish, I coloured it using Old Olive for the foliage and a new colour for me 'Perfect Plum' for the flowers.  Omg I love this gorgeous shade of purple! I coloured the stamp while it was on the block using my Blender pens and ink pads, it works perfectly, you just need to breathe onto the stamp before stamping.  The sentiment inside read 'Sharing in your Sorrow', which sums up how we feel perfectly.

Pat came over yesterday and we drafted like crazy, making loads of inked backgrounds, Pat was cutting card to size, I was brayering the colours onto the embossing folders and then running it through the die cutting machine, the ink transfers onto the card, it looks great, I can't wait that to see a finished card Pat.

I hope you all have a fantastic day today,

Love and hugs,

Sandra

  2. Hi Sandra and all,

So sad about Pauls uncle Sandra but glad he had his family around him when died. The story you told happens so often here. Where I live the plans of the urbanisation had a golf course, a bowling alley and plenty of shops. It's only when Paul moved in that everyone realised the farmer had no intention of selling his fields for a golf course and 12 years later there are still no shops. How the Spanish builders get away with it I don't know but they do.

Off to meet my chatty friend for coffee later but just been watching John Lockwood on his first show of the day and as usual with John's things, I want everything. I'm resisting though as Christmas is coming and then in January we're in Egypt for a couple of weeks so sadly no spare cash at the moment.

Glad you had a good time crafting with Pat yesterday Sandra. Looking forward to seeing what you were both playing with.

LILIAN so sorry you've not been so well. Hope today is a better day. Sending hugs.xxxEnjoy your day everyone.
    Love Valxxx

    2. Hi Val
I forgot John was on today, better go and set the recorder if he has more shows for today. Such a shame that the developers aren't made to fulfil their promises.

  3. Hello Sandra and Ladies,

You had me worried there Sandra when I looked in and the blog was still opening up with yesterday’s CC. Hope your problems were only technical.xx

I love today’s card and agree sympathy cards are not easy to make, but this set of dies help enormously and give a beautiful and tasteful result.

Sounds like you and Pat had a very productive day yesterday well done ✅ xx

Must press on, expecting the service man any time now to service the boiler, should be no problems though as it still under warranty is.
Hope everyone is having a good day keep warm, love and hugs Brenda XXX

    1. Hi Brenda
It's very cold here today even though the sun is out. Snow I see in some parts of the UK.
Yes, we did have a very productive day. We did loads of card fronts using the 3D Christmas Village in different colours. However, Sandra only wanted two of them, so all Sandra and I did I bought them home.
I must say they look really nice.

  4. Morning Everyone
Like BRENDA you had me worried when I looked in to open up this morning so I'm hoping that as B says it's technical.

It's always difficult with sympathy cards and I always just go for simple and plain.

I've just taken pics of this week's CC so now my next task is to send off to you.

Have a good day everyone and HUGs should have reached all of you by now. Extras are on their way LILIAN.xxxx

  6. Hi Sandra
Lovely Sympathy card for Paul's cousins. At least his uncle was with his family when he passed away. I think Cancer is an awful disease. You never know what's going to happen with it.

  9. Hi Sandra and all in the Café tonight.
This card is beautiful, perfect as a sympathy card. I love this stamp set, especially the delicate flourish and I agree with you about the Perfect Plum, It is a gorgeous colour 😊
Thank goodness Paul's uncle was over here with his family. So many Brits seem to have been caught out when buying in Spain. It's a shame we can't all chip in and buy it as a retreat and holiday home as it sounds like the perfect place to me, well away from all of the touristy places. Seriously, I do hope the family manage to sell it quickly and easily xx
Lilian, I'm so sorry to hear you haven't been well and ended up in A and E again. I'm sending you very gentle healing hugs and hope you are improving a little every day X
Maria, I hope you are feeling better each day. You have been busy with one thing or another lately haven't you. I still haven't actually started putting any Christmas cards together yet but have got quite a bit of die cutting done for them so hope to make a start on Saturday, so much for getting the Canadian family ones done and posted by tomorrow!!! Have you started yours yet? Sending gentle hugs to you x
Lynda, I'm sorry to hear that you did end up with a migraine, you have my sympathy, they really are awful aren't they. Sending you gentle hugs and hope you wake up pain free, at least in your head X
I see some of my comments did a vanishing act yesterday so I hope this one appears, fingers crossed.
Sending love and hugs to you all with extras for Lilian and all in need. Take care xx
