Good Saturday Morning Ladies,
Yesterday was very long and just mentally draining, we left here just after seven am and got to hospital for 8am, she was seen straight away, she was still hopeful at this point that it was something temporary, but I knew something was up when they put her ahead of everyone else for scans etc, then we went straight to Surgeon, he explained that it was detatched retina, at which point she broke down, she explained that she was getting married next Saturday, so he went off to discuss best options, the surgery that Paul had wouldn't work as the recovery is very strict and takes 4 -6 weeks, it also carries a huge risk of causing cataracts, which is exactly what happened to Paul, virtually straight away. So they did Laser Retinopexy combined with Cryotherapy, the combination of which create scars that hold the retina in place, they then put gas in to put pressure on the retina while scars form and heal. It looks like she is going to have a lovely black eye, but I reassured her that makeup is miraculous these days.
We were semt straight to a Day Surgery ward, where she was instructed to lay on her left hand side immediately to prevent any further damage. Her surgery ended up being way longer than expected as the found muliple tears. She has follow up appointment on Monday. She said she was terrified the whole way through as you have to be awake while they operate on you, Becca asked them to tape her other eye closed so that she couldn't see the needles and scalpel, she said that there quite a few people in the operating theatre, making it harder to relax, she ended up having a full anxiety attack towards the end of her surgery, I could hear her crying as she came down the corridor, which just broke my heart. We got her home safe, made sure she was in bed and relaxing
I haven't felt this helpless befor.
Love and hugs to all,
Sandra xxx
Great saying I have to set an alarm on Alexa otherwise I’d be on my craft room until all hours
ReplyDeleteIt is horrible when our children are ill You do feel helpless and as much as they are adults they are still our babies Hopefully the bruising will have gone down by next Saturday

Hi Sandra and all looking in. Great saying. Awful time for poor Becca and all of you. We would do anything to take their pain and fears away wouldn’t we. Make up will cover any bruising won’t it. Give her gentle hugs from me xx
ReplyDeleteTake care love Sue xx
Great saying Sandra, fits me down to a T. I say I’m going to the craft room - won’t be long and unless somebody comes and interrupts me. I could be there the rest of the day. Ha ha
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to Becca she must’ve felt so awful but as Sue said if the bruising is still there at the weekend make up can cover any imperfections in her skin, try to get her to relax and look forward to the weekend and her wedding with all her lovely family around her.
Debbie and Frankie (the dog) came over this morning. It was a lovely treat because Okaywe weren’t expecting them.
Hope your day has been good. Love and hugs, Brenda xxx
Hi all, well we certainly have had enough rain, also much cooler, first time using my cardigan for months.
ReplyDeleteSandra so sorry you had such a stressful day yesterday.
Managed to finish my challenge piece this afternoon but like the saying the time flew away.
Have a goodnight everyone. Lilian
Hi everyone
ReplyDeleteSaying so true. I always spend more time then expected and suddenly it's dinner time.
Poor Becca and you must have been in a real state bless you. It's awful when you can't take their pain away.
OH were to football today so I decided to clear out my wardrobe. Could only do the bottom rack because of my back but still managed to get a bag full for the charity shop. Think I'm going to send them some cards too so they can sell and get the money.
It was raining here quite a lot today and leaves was falling off the trees.
Sleep well everyone and hugs to you all. Maria xx
