Good Morning Ladies,
We had lots of rain and thunder yesterday, in fact the rain was so hard at one point it set Soph's car alarm off, luckily Paul was working from home and managed to turn it off, I'd have no clue 🤣
I had a very long and frustrating search for my 'Mother of the Bride' outfit, I feel like there was a lot more choice last year, the Autumnal shades (which are actually some of my favourites) that are the colour scheme of the wedding are just not in this years fashion colours, I had to give up at about 2pm as it was getting really frustrated. So I switched to crafting for a few hours, my first session since mid June!
Today I am sharing one of the cards I made yesterday, this is a quick and easy aperture card. I cut my card base to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch (A2), just for reference I make most of my A2 cards by cutting down the length A4 card at 4 1/4 inch, then trim down to 11 inch and score at 5 1/2 inch, this leaves the other 4 inch strip of card that I trim down to create a mat thats exactly 1/4 inch less than card base. I took the mat and die cut a simple rectangle out of it, slightly towards the top of the card. Before adhering the die cut mat to my card base I stamped a sentiment below the aperture in Versafine Clair Verdant ink, I then took a piece of the patterned paper from my IndigoBlu magazine and cut a piece of the lightest part of the piece, then I used a few different foliage dies to cut some of the darker part of the card. I adhered the light piece to my card base, then added foam tape to the back of the top layer and added it to the base, I then arranged the darker foliage die cuts in the aperture.
A closer look at the background of the card, the pattern had a huge butterfly on, I didn't think I'd use it as the pattern is too big, but cutting it down like this really works.
I hope that you all have a good day,
Love & hugs to all,
Sandra xxx
A really beautiful card This would look good in other shades too
ReplyDeleteI feel your frustration about buying an outfit I hated shopping for my daughter’s
Sorry I didn’t get in yesterday I looked earlier in the day and then totally forgot to go back A great card I need to practice more doing masking off etc
Take care everyone xx
Hi Sandra and all looking in.
ReplyDeleteA lovely card for us today. So fresh, clean and simple. Why have I never thought to cut down “big” patterned papers to use as a background like this? Thank you for giving me that way of using them 🥰 xx
I am hoping to get my haircut today. It always makes me feel better.
Have a good day everyone. Take care. Love Sue xx
Hello, quick drop in before the grandchildren come.
ReplyDeleteI have sympathy for you trying to find something to wear for the wedding. I ended up going to a small boutique, very expensive normally but thought I’d give them a try. The were excellent, found a dress a jacket that really suited me, was a bit pricey but for my daughter’s wedding I didn’t care about the price.
Your card today is lovely, looks very special.
The family have arrived, so I’d better go. Lilian
Hi everyone
ReplyDeleteSorry missed to comment yesterday, just like Karen I did look in in the morning but forgot to go back 😔. The card was very nice tho and I like the way you had done it. Today's card is lovely too.
I hope you be alright Lilian, so frustrating when you have done such a fantastic job of loosing all that weight. Have a nice time with the family.
I'm sure you will get a dress in the end Sandra. I think we are looking at the moment for you 😉. So many shops on line but not sure if you can trust them all.
Sue, did you manage to get your hair cut today. I'm going on Thursday and can't wait.
It's been a quiet day here after I did some housework first thing. My x neighbour , I looked after their cat last week, popped over with a prezzie and some chocolates as a thank you. She stayed for a tea and told us about Forest of Dean. It sounded very nice where they went.
Hope you all had a good day. Brenda and Sonia too and our other missing friends, I send a hug to you all. Take care, Maria xx
Beautiful card I love the shades of green, but it would look good in any colour you choose. Thank you for your inspiration.
DeleteIt’s so frustrating looking for an outfit for a special occasion like a daughter’s wedding. I’m sure you will find something. Sometimes when you go into a shop the assistant might suggest you try on something don’t be put off if this happens. On one occasion the shop owner suggested I try this particular dress on and I said no, it’s just not me. I did try it on and it fitted like it was a glove - a beautiful fitting glove which I treasured for years.
Lillian enjoy the time with your grandchildren xxx
Hope everyone is well.
Take care, love Brenda xxx
