Fancy an Icecream???

Good Friday Morning Ladies,
The story behind this card is........Sophie & Lucy were invited to their friend Tabitha's birthday party
last Saturday evening.  The brief for the card was that they wanted a card for their friend Tabitha, she isn't a Tomboy but she isn't girly either, so no flowers, lace or ribbons, last year we made her a tiger card as that is her nickname!
Anyway I racked my brains, then I asked the girls what the invitations were like, they said they didn't have one but the party had an Ice cream theme, so I sat and thought for a moment and then had a rummage in the craft room, I found some paper that had a waffly/biscuit texture to it but it was gold, but I turned it over and bingo!, the colour on the back was perfect, had this colour not have worked I would have used a piece of  hessian/jute that I had.
I cut the card into a cone shape and backed it with a piece of Kraft card, I then put some double sided foam tape on the back to slightly raise it off the base card. I then tipped out my 'cream' button jar and laid them out so that I was happy with the design, I then used Glossy Accents to adhere the buttons as it seemed to stick really fast and stuck buttons to buttons too. I used a red button to use as a 'cherry on top'  I popped a tiny piece of green ribbon through the red button to look like a stalk!
I then used a Spellbinder die to cut the Happy Birthday sentiment and placed it alongside the cone,
I used a Tattered lace 'free' die (from a magazine), to cut the letters for Tabitha's name out of red card and popped it at the top of the card. The overall card was just about A5.
The whole card took about 1/2 hr - 45 minutes, so if you want a quick and easy card, that uses up some of your button mountain, here it is, it would also work with pink buttons for strawberry ice cream or brown chocolate.
I would love to hear what you think, I know it's not a fancy, pretty card, it uses no dies or fancy
Papers, but I think it works, something children would enjoy doing too.
Well that's another week closer to our retreat ladies, how are those 'jaunt jars' doing, mine has some
Die cut bits, some dust and a paper clip in it!!, I hope yours are doing better!
Oh before I go......mixed craft Saturday, please keep your crafts coming!
Love and hugs to each and everyone of you,
Sandra xxxxxx

  1. Good morning Sandra and the Coffee Shop gang, hope you are all well.
WOW! oh! WOW! SANDRA:- that is brilliant, LOVE it. Clever you, I really like the idea of all the buttons, the Cherry on the top just finishes it off to a "T"
We have "sunshine" can't see a hand in front of me for mist/fog ..... but the sun is there, hopefully will burn it back.
Everything looking good, flowers on the tables. Might just take my cuppa outside, see who pops in for a chat or who passes by. A few might go along to the Spellbinders Cafe so what they can do there. Sandra I love being able to be here every day rather than visiting someplace only on a Friday.
This is "quick clean" round the house today, off to get started so I have time to myself later.
I need time today to get myself ready for tomorrow ..... Hazel and I meeting ...... wait for it ....... Drum Roll please ..... MAUREEN:- The day is arriving, really excited,I do hope it stays fair. I don't do rain however I will do any kind of weather to meet Maureen.

  2. Morning Ladies

Sandra-brilliant idea & such a lovely card. Perfect for this sunny weather.

Thank goodness it's Friday-lots to sort out ready for my week off but it'll be worth it. Am planning on starting the weeks holiday by having Fish & Chips for tea tonight-forget the diet!! Then on Sunday we might walk down to the Indian restaurant. We have a Chinese restaurant, an Indian, an Italian & a general restaurant plus 2 winebars, 2 pubs(both a bit grotty) and 3 coffee shops. Ainsdale is a fairly small village but we have a reasonable selection of shops, train station & good bus routes. In this day & age, we're very lucky to have so many facilities to hand. The only negative is the public library closed but a small group now run it as a community centre along with a small lending library.

Right-off to visit my greenhouse as it looks like another scorching day here.

You make sure you enjoy every moment of your week off!
Now then fish and chips sounds a great way to start your holiday,
Mind you it's not a 'cheap' Tea any more, does our chip shop do "Scraps" (the tiny bits of leftover fish batter) ? I used to love having those crunchy bits on top of my chips!
I look forward to hearing all about your week off.

  3. Good morning Sandra and Ladies,

What an inspired idea for a card Sandra! So novel and just right for this lovely hot sunny weather we are having. I'm sure Tabitha ( a delightful name that I haven't heard for a long time) will be thrilled to have a card made just for her.

A spot of house work today before I head off into the lounge to start another day of tennis watching.

    1. Morning Cheryl,
Sadly I am not a tennis fan, all that "oohing and aaahing" they make when they hit the ball drives me crackers, but I will watch Andy Murray as he progresses!
Sad news that the ladies football team lost their last match so are now not in line to win but are playing at the weekend for 3rd or 4th place, I would like to point out that is further than the mens team in many years!
You go and get sorted so you are ready with your feet up for the start.

  4. Good morning Sandra and all who call or look in today. Oh WOW Sandra what a fantastic idea, and a great way to use up those buttons!!!
Lazy start for me. I didn't have a great nights sleep the other night, but oh boy I have made up for that now. But on the down side I think I might have had a bit to much, as I can't get going, and like big sis I have to catch up with my self as I have to meet her tomorrow reasonably early. Then it's off to Edinburgh and meeting MAUREEN. It's come round really quickly in a way. It seemed ages away and of course it was a few weeks before Gillian & Andrews wedding, now it's here and the wedding is just round the corner. HELP!!! I am no further forward with that room clear out.
Saba, enjoy your different route home and your planned visit.
Diane, that key lime pie was a delight, what for pudding tonight??? Or is it just the same.
Myra, I gave up counting how many times you said sorry last night! We don't mind you being late in or if you didn't come in while being away, your on holiday!!.,
Lynda, how is Annie this morning? I do hope you had a good night with her.
Brenda ( littlelamb) please try and rest that wrist, it's going to give you a lot of pain come the winter if you aren't careful.
Margaret, (corgi owner). How are? Frustration setting in is it? You are always on the go, so having to sit and do very little will be driving you crazy.
Cheryl and Jess I can see you two rushing around getting things done so that you can sit and enjoy the tennis, oh wait Jess did you say you were covering the shop today?? Oh no what are you going to do???
I will better go get on, or Charlie and Harris will be back from their walk. Like to get the corner where Harris's bed stays hoovered while they are out.

On that note I have a beautiful verse for a card from mum to daughter on the eve of her wedding, I can post it for you if you like ?
You are so lucky to be getting to meet up with 'our Maureen", I now for sure that it will be a day filled with laughter !
I hope the retreat comes around as fast Gillian's wedding has, mind you we go on holiday in 5 weeks then it will be sept 3rd when we get back, it will be about 7 weeks or so then until we all meet up, I am so looking forward to that weekend!

Oh I love your wonderful card Sandra and the idea is fantastic and so clever making the ice-cream out of buttons and even adding a red button with thread through it as the cherry on the top. Perfect for the theme of the party!! Fantastic!!
I slept really well last night considering what was on my mind with Nikki...probably because I had gotten it off my chest by writing about it here and then the lovely support I had back from everyone. I see Nikki every fortnight so I'm not due to see her till next Saturday when I have a nice surprise for her as Margaret and George are coming up and we are taking her for a meal so hopefully that will brighten her up..
The sun is shining and I have a bit of washing to do then it's a bit of tennis and some die-cutting to do.
Hope everyone has a lovely day and manages to keep cool. Have left extra special hugs in the basket....hope Norah's aren't too hyper today so they can all fit in!.

    4. Hi Sheila, didn't quite catch up with all the posts yesterday, so don't know the worry you have mentioned, but it really does help to either chat or write things down, when you get feedback I think things get into perspective. I've just come off the phone chatting with the manager of the house NIc lives in, there's nothing wrong but just to chat in general makes me feel better. The bungalow we hoped for isn't going to be as easy as first thought so we had a lot of disappointments, and they have been so supportive.
Take care, Sheila, glad you had some rest too

    5. Hi Sheila, it's so lovely the café clientele can all set you' re
      mind at rest.
I have a suggestion which was given to me by my Cruise Bereavement counsellor for Joseph our youngest Grandson. He was only 7 when Pete passed on and was with me the night the Site Police came to tell us Pete wasn't coming home. He went through a very bad stage, so unlike him, and this what she said. 'Make a memory box with him not a book'. So Joseph went around the house to see what he wanted to put in Granddad's box that would always remind him of Pete. So many odd things reminded him of what he and Granddad used to do together. He was very happy with doing that.
Perhaps Nikki could do the same with you?

Well it's still scorching here and yes like idiots we braved the weekly market andfood sshopping. Now both of us are as if we have been through the wringer - hope everyone remembers what one of those is.
We didn't call in the pastry shop as the cakes would just not have survived but worry not Jim is going down to Chatillon where we shop for bread to the cake shop there as it's only five mins away. So there will be cake this evening.

Sandra your card is just beautiful. What a good idea for buttons and if you don't mind one I'll borrow.

We are still laptop less and so trying to keep up with all the sport is just no on impossible and of course the Tour starts tomorrow so someone is not too happy. Tablets are OK but their batteries run down very quickly so fingers crossed normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Have a good afternoon everyone and I've had a word upstairs requesting nice weather for Scotland, little cooler for England and I don't know how Wales are fixed so they're on hold.
    Hugs should arrive.

Sandra your card is lovely, (I know, I don't do buttons !!!!!) this card is such an inspiring idea, I'm sure Tabitha really loved it. I've just had a thought for Men/boys it could be a Cone with Cogs in OR Nuts and bolts (card cut outs not the real things)......... What did I say about inspiring idea!!!!!! Your a genius.

  16. Good afternoon my little cafe delights,
What a lovely day this part of Scotland is having, i am hoping that it makes it's way further up north to my lovely friends. Sandra, you are having a laugh if you think that this lovely original would even make the slightest dent in my button mountain, i think it could make a good rival for the butter mountain that there was and whatever other kind of mountain there could be plus i inherited mum's small tin (it used to be for salt) as ever since i can remember it has been filled with buttons. My other half had the ordacity to say that it was rubbish and i didn't need it as i had more than enough myself. What a cheek, imagine even thinking that i should part with buttons. I am wondering as my dolly was called Tabitha because of bewitched, i wonder if this was the reason behind this wee lass's name? It's like i can always remember my old friends granddaughters name because of my favourite movie of all time with the handsome Omar Sharif, ooooo he is like my love of Mario Lanza and Johnny Mathis, both handsome men. I took mum years ago when the SECC had no long opened up to a concert of Johnny Mathis, well i was car struck because of this big long American cadalac, ooo it was lovely. Walking past admiring this beautiful car(come on my daddy was a car mechanic and i had that same passion for cars as he did) someone knocked at the window, well i nearly jumped out of skin. Well they knocked and waved again, well i ran like the bars of hell into the place, absolutely terrified. Mum just laughed when she caught up with me and then she told me who it was knocking and waving at me( silly bint) it was the nearest i got near him and later on his offical fan club had it all roped off so that it was just those and such as those that got to see him and get his autograph, but he was fantastic that night. See that's me way of track again, i hope the girls have a terrific time at their friends' birthday party Sandra and one thing is for sure, Tabitha will definitely not have a double of this birthday card so will cherish it.
Campbell comes in last night asking for a baby girls card and outfit for one of the fella's at his work. His wife had their baby daughter Maeve a fortnight before Harry came along. Now this i find really hilarious because he can't stand me knitting or making cards but when he needs a present he wants these things. Ekkkk men!!!
Rory is white water rafting today up at Aberfeldy so i hope he has a great time as he has never been to anything like that before. The lassie just asked if he could swim 25 meters, well that i don't know above the water, under no problem along with the handstands and crawling along the bottom of the pool but to actually swim above is a different matter.
Sheila, i have tried to instill good behaviour into my huggles but they see people coming in and they just make a dive for them, so i wont say that they will be a very good influence on your well behaved ones. Nicky will pick up again flower, it's just that like Rory her brain works differently and takes things in differently, but what ever flower it doesn't mean that she loves her daddy any less, it's just her trying to come to terms as well with your lovely Clive going. I'm sending you both huggles any way just to say it will work out, it just might take Nikki a wee while to adjust. Sorry i might be bang out of order here but i hope you don't take any offence.
I'm busy getting things done that needs done before the middens come back from work and play so i shall have a latte and sit a wee while before getting on again.
love and crafty hugs my angels

Just a hint, have you looked on the back of your magnetic sheet for the missing die. One of the down side of having Polyneuralgia the muscles just don't stretch some days, and today is one of them. Charlie said he will give me a hand, and he will but I like just taking my time and fitting things in to a space, but I will just have to let him do it. Well back to the sort out. xxx

    5. Thank you Sheila, Charlie told me to leave it till Sunday, and tomorrow he will move things in the shed and make room for the plastic storage boxes to go in there, it's dry and as he said its only for a couple of weeks, just to give his sister room to move around in the spare room. I have so much baby dishes, plate etc for my gift baskets, also products for them and the lady ones, so they won't come to any harm down there. So I feel better frustration wise, and two painkillers and Margaret's heat bag are helping the pain. xxx

  19. Afternoon ladies,
Sandra I love your card to bits. What a brilliant idea, I might have to pinch it. I inherited my granny's button box. As a child I was always playing with them when we visited her. We used to find big ones and put string through the holes and then pull it to get the button spinning. Had to be careful not to get your hair trapped as it was spinning though.
Sheila, sorry I didn't get chance to come in last evening and comment on your posting. I am glad to hear that you managed to get some sleep though. I can't begin to imagine what you have, and still are, going through. Hope all goes well when Nikki visits on Saturday.
Myra, hope you are having a lovely time.
We are well on our way now towards Italy and have just stopped for a break and something to eat. It is red hot but we have managed to find a shady spot.
Must go, love and hugs, will hopefully call back later.

  26. Hello Sandra and the cafe gang, I'm late today but have commented all the way down, easiest way to keep up with the chatter I think,
Sandra just love this card, I'm sure Tabitha will enjoy receiving it.
Went shopping today, my grandson gets married in early September in Greece and I still couldn't find a dress, most of the lighter weight dresses are very colourful, don't want to overpower the photos, anyway found just the right dress today so I'm happy, just need to get the accessories now, then can relax.
It's still very warm here in Wigan but we had so much rain yesterday afternoon I thought it would be cooler.
Have topped the basket up and hope everyone has a relaxing evening,
Will pop back later if I can

Sandra, what a great idea for a card. So unique and so perfect for a teenager. I think we will all be pinching this idea.
3 WINNERS. The coffee shop has done well. I'm delighted, even though I didn't get one, but, Maureen an angel?
I hope Edinburgh can cope with the 3 of you talking tomorrow, boy am I jealous! Have a terrific time, but I'm sure you will.
Lynda, haven't seen you around today. Is Annie OK? Thinking about you. Bracken and I are sending you both some cuddles.
Hope everyone is having a lovely day. Sun is shining here, it's a perfect temperature (well, for me anyway), and visitors are all enjoying it. But of course they are forecasting rain tomorrow, drat!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I am here just been Reading all the comments. It takes a long time doesn't it. Haven't done any gardening today as my shoulder is playing up. Hasn't been good all week. It's my right one. Not my good side really. That's the side of the masectomy plus the broken shoulder and the broken wrist but there are things that have to be done especially when there is no one else to do it. Thank you Patricia for being concerned.
HAZEL. PAT AND MAUREEN. Congratulations on winning one of Sue's Christmas dies. I look forward to seeing what you make with them.
Our pharmacy really made me cross today. If you put in for a repeat prescription you usually had to wait two days. Then the Pharmacy decided they couldn't do it that fast by the time they got the prescription from the Dr so it was then three days. I put my repeat prescription into the Dr on Tuesday. Went just before they closed today to pick it up giving them plenty of time. They hadn't done it. It takes three working days. Yes I said I put it in Tuesday. Very busy. Mine was due to be done next she said. Did I want to wait for it. YES that why I am here. Now if I didn't drive it would take me half an hour to walk there only to be told 'come back tomorrow!! Then they didn't have it all. I despair. Rant over sorry.
SANDRA. Love your card today. Will I see you tomorrow at Newbury? Hope Patricia, Hazel and Maureen have a lovely time tomorrow. Hopefully I will see Sandra, Sue and Pat. Be back later.

  39. Brenda, Patricia will be happy knowing you are ok. How did you manage to hold your cool? I hate when they tell us to make sure we have enough tablets to keep you going, and then they do this to you!!., a little complaint to the doctors about them might be the answer.
I have noticed Margaret ( corgi owner) hasn't bern in again, I hope she is ok?

Lynda, is Annie ok? I know you had the vets again to day?
Sue, Pat, Brenda, Sandra and Paul enjoy your day tomorrow. I know you will have a great meet up,too.

  41. Hi everyone, just been reading through the comments and have come to the conclusion we are all a bit of arthritic sufferers, we need to take a leaf out of Dirty Harry films and say ....a man/woman has got to know their limitations!!! 43. Hi Sandar and all in the Cafe tonight. Sorry but I am having problems with my lap top AGAIN! It keeps restarting every time I turn it on and that is taking about 3-4 hours. I am waiting to have it looked.
I have been busy too, haven't stopped all day, it started when I had to take Chris to the docs this morning as his back had gone into spasm, leaving him stuck on the floor beside the sofa from 3am - 6.30am this morning! When I asked him why he didn't phone me, I was in bed upstairs, and awake some of the time, he told me that he couldn't even reach his phone which was on the coffee table near by, bless him! Doc was running nearly an hour and a half late due to an emergency call out so not a good start to the day He has given him more Tramadol and paracetamol, and said it's just a time thing!
I love the ice cream card Sandra, what a lovely idea, I will be "borrowing" that one for sure, thank you for sharing it. I am looking forward to spending tomorrow with you at Newbury : )
Lynda, I hope that Annie is doing well on her new meds. Pets are just as much of a worry as children, aren't they.
Sheila, I am sure Nikki will be fine, from what you say it sounds like she has very good carers, they will know how to deal with her upset. I can totally understand how you must feel though, as Mum you just want to be with her, of course. you are in my thoughts.
I'm sorry that I haven't had a chance to read all of today's comments but looked at yesterdays. Will have to catch up over the weekend. Sorry if I have missed anyone out . Life is just a bit of a "trying to catch up" time at the moment. you all know what that is like, i'm sure. I don't know what to do first. Must do a few bits of ironing from the mountain I have at the moment so that we have clothes to wear tomorrow! I hope you all have a good nights sleep, it is a little cooler here at the moment and it feels like it is going to rain, which will freshen the air p, I hope!
    Sleep tight
    . Take care xxx

  44. I'm here to say goodnight to you all. Hazel, hope you are ok tomorrow, I need you fighting fit!
Littlelamb Brenda, you are certainly a fighter to soldier on. But it's a mistake to try to battle on when your body is telling you to stop. I know I can talk, I am the worst one to take my own advice. Try to take it easy tomorrow and I think the pharmacy need to pull their fingers out. Look when they tried to give me my injection prescription which had been in the drawer, and should have been stored in the fridge. They still tried to give it to me, but I got them to order a new lot. Take care, I wish we all lived closer to each other so that we could help out now and again. Have a great day tomorrow with Sandra, Sue and Pat. Don't spend all your money - spend theirs!!!
Lynda, I'm sorry I haven't asked how you are. I hope you are not in too much pain and are looking in on us.
I wonder if Saba has found her Hotel yet. They could be like the Ancient Mariner doomed to roam Trieste looking for an Hotel lol!
