Another beautiful gift, from Myra x

Good Morning Ladies,
I cannot begin to tell you how totally uplifting it has been receiving all of the beautiful cards that
you ladies have taken the time and trouble to send me over this past few weeks.
All of the silly nonsense that went on made me stop and think twice about whether or not I wanted to
carry on blogging every day, because as both Hazel and Patricia have said before knowing that there are people that are looking in everyday in the hope of reading something to cause problems with does make you stop and think, is it really worth it, as anyone can read something and take it totally out of context and then things can snowball so quickly out of control.
But the amazing support and out pouring of love and friendship from all of you lovely ladies has confirmed to me that getting up each day and writing a blog message to share with all of you is SO worth doing, so many of you have benefitted in so many ways from walking through that "Café Door" it fills my heart with joy, I love being able to showcase all of your work, as it not only shows you how fantastic your cards are, it also inspires somebody else that may be struggling with a certain style or design of card, there are also the mixed crafts too, again so very inspiring, had it not been for mixed craft days we may never have come across Teacup candles or many of the other crafts we have shared with each other.
All of the gorgeous cards that I have received over this past few weeks really have reinforced how very important this blog is to me and also to all of you, so I want to thank you all from the very bottom of my heart, you are all the most amazing friends that anyone could wish for, I only wish that everyone of you were coming along to our Craft Retreat in October so that I could show you how much you all mean to me, but I am determined to meet you all one day.
So as much as I was upset by all of the nastiness that went on I am going to say that it has had a very positive effect, who would have thought it!!!!
But had it not been for all of that, I would never have known how much the blog means to all of you and that fact alone makes all of this so totally worthwhile, so lets hope those "Café Doors" will be swinging for many years to come.
Anybody looking in please come on in and join the most amazing bunch of ladies that you could wish to meet, we absolutely welcome anyone to come in and join our craziness.
Up above you can see one of the cards that I was talking about, this gorgeous card was sent to me from our lovely Myra, I absolutely love the sentiment on the front and once again Myra wrote some beautiful, uplifting words inside, thank you so much Myra xx
Myra has used the Creative Expressions Noble Square die to create the frame for the lovely teacup and has embellished the card with some pretty roses and some gorgeous little resin flowers in the corners.
That's all from me today ladies, I hope that you all have a lovely Tuesday and I very much look forward to reading your comments.
Love and Hugs
Sandra

  2. Good morning Sandra and all the lovely ladies who frequent this wonderful cafe, I am so happy you are continuing your blog Sandra , I wasn't aware you had had second thoughts. I am early this morning as I had a restless night, only happens occasionally, but means I can help set things out in the cafe for Patricia as she is usually in first, tea & coffee on , brown and white bread on hand for the toaster and a batch of scones in the oven ! Just having a quick cuppa, will pop back later.
Myra, I am glad you got home safe after having a lovely time, your card is gorgeous and the sentiment is perfect ! I love your little flowers , did you make them? xo

  4. Morning Ladies

Myra-what a beautiful card. The image is so cute & I love the flowers in the corners.

Very miserable day here-raining, quite breezy & chilly. The heating kicked in this morning-unheard of!!!

Sandra-can I just say I'm sooooo glad you have decided to keep blogging. I love my visits to tbe cafe, I know I don't leave many comments but I do check back in most evenings so I'll try to be a better visitor. Seeing everyone's crafty creations is so inspiring, especially now as I seem to have stopped crafting altogether.

Ah well, better get myself sorted & set iff for work soon.

    See you all later.

    1. Hi Michele,
I just want you to know that even if you manage to pop in once a day I really appreciate it, you are a major contributor to the blog with all of your cards and crafts and I appreciate it immensely
So please don't feel like you have to apologise, you are busy working in a very important and at times very intense environment, so please just pop in when you can, I look forward to reading your daily input, it's a shame you can't join us on the retreat you could have given us a demo about getting the best from crafting with Cd Rooms! I would of course love to meet you too!
Maybe you could persuade hubby to play golf in Birmingham on 30th October, you could then pop in and spend the day with us!

    1. By by the way Paul ended up leaving the cafe rather swiftly on his way to work this morning, he went gliding out of the door with somebody's marbles under his feet! I guess it serves him right for popping in to pinch Patricia's crumpets!!! I was trying to hide the fact that the sight of it had caused me an unavoidable "tena moment"!
Are they your marbles by any chance Karen???

      Delete
    2. Hi Sandra
Probably my marbles, so my apologies to Paul. You know I lost them awhile back, must have been when I was at your house. Throw them in the bin for me please as I seem to have a better time without them. I had Kathy round for lunch today and her mums lost her marbles as well I'm afraid.

    3. PAT:- that's the spirit, throw caution to the wind. Make sure you get Pats marbles right in the bin!! I think it's great she's having so much fun without them!! xxx

If anyone wants to by the Triple floral die, that I am pretty sure works well with the triple flip die, Christine has the (triple floral) as well as some other lovely dies in her 'Pre-loved' section on her website, I am gluing to have a quick play today to see how well they work together!

  7. Hi Sandra
Well, I can honestly say I don't know what happened to yesterday. I totally missed Michelle's stunning golf card. Even though I assume it was made using a CD rom (I'll go back and check ) it looks totally realistic. Thanks for the inspiration Michelle. I must say Myra your teacup card is simply lovely. I actually saw this one in the flesh, I loved all the cards that have been sent to Sandra. It's lovely that this blog brings so much joy to so many people. We can share our highs and lows. I so glad Sandra that all the nastiness shown to you has had the opposite effect of what it was designed to do. Together I reckon we could put the world to rights. We all see to have so much common sense. Long may we continue.

  8. Good morning Sandra.
It's lovely to see that you have "perked" up and are on such good form today. Don't worry about Paul slipping, he grabbed on to a barrage balloon and some low slug strings, and he was fine!!! lol
Myra, I love your card, the trailing flowers are gorgeous. Is the cup a stamp, a die, or a topper - it's lovely. By the way, I'm glad you're home safe and sound, don't know why Patricia thought you were going to stay in a 6* hotel, anyone who knows you would know that wasn't good enough!!!
Karen, I hope today is not too painful for you. Here are some hugs and lots of love.
Well, I don't intend to do much today, I'm meeting my friend Ann at lunch time and we'll sort out all the World's troubles in no time. Then we'll sort out the House of Commons and Lords, because they don't appear to be in the real World!!!!
Sandra, let us know how the Triple floral die works with the triple flip. That's an awful lot of triples, good job it's not Baileys we are talking about here!!!
Anne, my word, you were in early this morning, have an easy day today.
    Michele, don't work too hard.
Where's Hazel, oh is she making Gillian's and her flowers? If you are Hazel, I'm looking forward to seeing the photographs.

  11. Morning Sandra and our lovely ladies,
Oh Sandra I'm so pleased you did give in to the nastiness and that you kept your cafe doors open, it's been my saviour at a very sad time in my life and everyone has helped me immensely....so let me thank you from the bottom of my heart. There are some days I don't feel like popping in but I always have a read to see what's going on but I do try my best on most days and there is always something going on whether it's about Saba teasing he dear husband with secret remotes and lavender, everybody's tenas or poopdeck...always something to make me smile and of course the creations from the wonderfully talented ladies. So keep up the good work Sandra.
KAREN dear lady my thoughts are with you today.
MYRA I love your card I just feel as if I could pick the cup up off the saucer and enjoy ta cuppa....love the floral touch too.
The weather here is once more autumnal but I really must pop out to the Post Office today.

  12. Hi Sandra and all in the Cafe today.
Myra, what a fantastic card, the teacup looks so real, I love it. I can't wait to see it "in the flesh" tomorrow : )
Sandra, glad that you felt up to having a sort out of your dies etc. yesterday but I hope you aren't suffering today because of it.
I am another lady(?) that is so thankful that you have turned all of the nastiness into something so positive and that you have proved that REAL friends ALWAYS stick together. Our 1st retreat is going to be one long weekend of love and hugs, with just a little chatting isn't it : ) Thank you for being there my lovely : )
Karen, my thoughts are with you today. We are all here for you whenever you need us..
Glad to hear that Norah is ok. Hope you can pop in soon : )
Must go now as I had an achey day yesterday so didn't get anything done so must now try and get Pop's card sorted ready for Friday.
Have a good day as possible everyone. Take care, love and hugs xx
PS, have just reread the above and the comment about love and hugs sounds a bit dodgy doesn't it! You know what I mean though, there is going to be lots of hugging going on when we meet for the first time and there is going to be a lovely atmosphere for the whole weekend. Thought I'd better clear that up before you ladies that are so quick off the mark (wish I could be as fast as you ) come up with goodness knows what comments : )) xxx

Myra, love your card, like it's been said you feel you can just pick up the cup. Glad you are home safe and had a good time.
Karen, I am thinking of you today. (((((( hugs))))))
Maureen, enjoy your lunch with your friend. Charlie and Roberta are away to Pitlochry and depending on the weather they might go from there to Crieff.
Well disaster struck here today - washing machine has broken with a load of dark clothing init, phonedv the washing machine man, he apologised that he couldn't come today but will be tomorrow morning. He has only been to fix the machine once in 14 years but he is always at work repairing there's, I have a Neff and as he said its a work horse, well I am hoping the work horse is not going to be put down, and a new part is all that's required , he didn't say it was a problem, the only thing is if he has to get the part. Thank goodness Gillian just lives down the road and of coarse I can take washing to work and do it. Off to get some daisies to make Robertas button hole as that's what she likes. I will send Sandra photos of what I have made. Xxx

Myra, fabulous card. That tea cup is delightful and your tiny roses so pretty. The noble square looks wonderful as a frame for this lovely creation. Glad you are home safe and sound.
I think I'll have a crumpet with lashings of butter and a packet of baby wipes please.
Sandra it was lovely to read your posting for today. I am so happy that you have put that mean business where it belongs, in the bin. I can only repeat what everyone else says, your blog is fantastic and what you get from it is heartwarming and what we get from it is apart from inspiration, is love and friendship. There is a verse from the apocrypha which says :- A Faithful Friend is the Medicine of Life, how true that is, and the medicine we all get here does us the world of good. Thank you dear friend for staying with it.
Sarah ( Maureen, Muriel, Daffy etc.) you forgot one. Angel of the North!
    Enjoy your lunch.
Sue, I am so looking forward to our love in, I remember Woodstock and flower power and all the loving that went on. Maybe we should all wear psychedelic blouses and mini skirts.
Hazel, I am slightly concerned about Roberta's button hole. Daisies are not known for their staying power, they wilt so quickly.
Talking of wilting, the turbo cutting is looking really healthy. He spotted it last evening and was so excited, he commented that it had grown very quickly and was surprised it was the only one to be showing so far, but was thrilled that at least he had one!! I think I won't burst his bubble and tell him the truth ( unless it dies) it's making him so happy!!
Karen I can't begin to imagine what pain you are going through, my hug for you might be virtual, but the love I am sending to you is real. Bless you love.

  20. Good Morning Sandra,
Good Morning Friends - you are such lovely friends, full of fun and mischief but kindness and thoughtfulness by the bucket load!
Friendship is real give and take and if we just take - it isn't friendship!
I was so surprised to see my card today! It is just a simple one but I chose the cup and saucer for obvious reasons! Best coffee shop owner I know! The sentiment I found in my bit box and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The resin flowers are from AnnaMarie I think!! Sandra has been really kind and didn't tell how messy the card was inside as a pen ran out in the middle !! It really wasn't my finest hour! Oops - the cup and saucer were also in my bit box - Anna Griffin.
I've been trying to catch up with everyone's news and it's so hard! It's all the ups and downs of reading!
Firstly - Sandra if we have given a little bit back then I for one am very pleased. You give so much time and effort not to mention care! Thank you!
Six Star Hotel - no Patricia - friends' home so much better. She knows how I like my coffee and we all like the same sort of things and we had a lovely relaxing weekend. We did get dressed up and go out on Saturday evening. A treat for everyone and a rest plus treat for the hostess!
Karen , what an awful day for you! I can't even imagine your pain. Sending lots of love your way xx
Muriel - have a lovely lunch with your friend. I too, despair of some politicians. We need a CCC - Cotswold Cafe Committee - to sit down there and sort them out!
Anne - I have a good memory for the strangest things! I'm not saying you are strange! My husband says my mind is full of useless information! He says it with a whimsical smile while shaking his head so I don't think he's being unkind! - well!
Cheryl looking forward to your news!
Norah - glad you are ok and just busy - that's ok! It's allowed, my friend.
Hazel - your buttonholes sound lovely! I hope the weather is a bit warmer for the big day and that the sun shines, even just for photographs and everyone arriving if it can't mange the whole day!
Must stop and go and read! Will take washing out first and put last lot in!
    Lots of love,

Sitting here with my toasted crumpet and so glad that I found your cafe' and have the huge luck to meet up with you and some of the other girls/ ladies and hope too that you will continue your blog for a long time yet. It has changed me totally coming through the door's very shy and being in the background for a lot of things, I'm now more outspoken and sometimes babbling away maybe a bit to much but I don't care tihi just tell me hush and I will try. The support we and I have here is something that was missing and it has made me feel stronger to know I'm not alone! I do feel a bit bad as I'm not crafting and sending much in for you to see but I love belonging to this cafe' so I hope you want kick me out ? gosh, I could go on but just want to give you and all the others a bamse hug ( let people think what they want Mrs B, I love hugs) You will never get to see me in a mini skirt do, not with my legs hihi but I'm all for burning the blasted bras that hold you in some( what do you say Lynda DB) OOooh Saba he's seen the 'seedling' at last, you are so bad.x Love it ! Maureen -have a nice lunch with your friend, might be too late to change the world but have fun trying x
Myra- you have sent Sandra such a sweet card ,so perfect with a nice coffee cup. It looks like you can take it off and use it for real or for a candle cup.
Oh Cheryl - have just seen your chin, can't take you anywhere. memo; bring plenty of tissues to retreat ! Looking forward to hear about your family reunion, just let us sit down comfy first so we don't miss anything.
Hazel -are all your button holes now finished and you can have a breather before they coming back.Hope Roberta is enjoying her holiday just a shame the clouds are hanging so low. Cold ,wet and windy, sigh, what a summer. Think is time to get under that duvet again, what minds some of you are having eeeeks!

Just go and sit of a colour theme, then pick out one or two papers that match with your colour theme and it will fall into place, or type in Baby boy first birthday card on Pinterest, you can even put in 'simple birthday card', that should get your 'mojo' into action!

Cheryl have a wonderful reunion and can't wait to hear all about it.
Maria hope your mojo comes back I think the others have given you some great tips so fingers crossed.
Still thinking of you dear Karen and send extra hugs for you.

  24. That's the 2 ladies ones done just hope it's ok for Roberta, she has brought 4 dresses with her as she couldn't make up her mind what one to wear, all gorgeous so white daisies will go with any one she chooses. Well the washing machine decided it wasn't broken after all it just needed a rest, I was putting it to off and went one setting to far and it started up, so put it to spin and it worked have put another load in just to double check. I will need to rewash the first lot as I pegged it out and the heavens opened, well it's that wet I can't get it in as I will be soaked, once it stops raining and the washing has dried a bit I will take it in. So it's a good job the repair man knows me, I will text him and tell him to cancel tomorrow's appointment. Oh I enjoyed that cup of tea.
Maria and any one else who think because they don't craft a lot can't be part of this cafe, you are contributing so much, we are friends and friends don't care if any one crafts or not. Oh I'd better go and clear up the mess I have made, will call in later. xxx

  25. Afternoon one and all
Sandra - you staying open and there's no foreclosure on the horizon of this one fantastic café has got to be one of the best pieces of news this year.
You have changed so many lives and given so much pleasure to so many of us in every way the world needs a few more Sandra's in it just like you.

Your gift from Myra is just beautiful and I love love that teacup. I could see me using that on more than a few of my cards. Love all of it.

Karen - I'm with you for today. Hugs just for you.
Thank you for the news re Norah - I'm so pleased it's only busy and so I know she'll be back.
Cheryl am so looking forward to your family reunion story.
hazel cannot wait to see your posies.
Sheila I'm sure you'll be OK on Saturday crossing the channel.

I'm sure I've forgotten someone so please forgive me if I have.

We went to the local shops this morning to just do a little stock up before visitors arrive on Thursday and then this afternoon we have been into the Annexe to sort it out and get it ready for us to sleep in whilst the visitors are here. Honestly how can just two of us cause such an untidy room when we don't use it very often. Anyway it's all sorted now and just needs the bed made up which will happen on Thursday morning.

We haven't had any more rain but the temps have dropped to early 20s so it's definitely much better.

Off now for a cuppa. Take care everyone.

Saba - I see Patricia thinks we're a lethal combination - well that may or may not be true but just add a sprinkling of the others and it's toxic!

  30. Yoooooo hooooo,
Well the ark didn't let us down. George took me to town to meet Ann, and the river - which used to be our street - is flowing nicely!! The chap on the local news this morning said that we have had a month's rain in two days, but I reckon we've now had 2 month's. Town was very busy, it always is when I go in because people flock to see me ha ha. Then I remembered it was school holidays - ah it was busy because people were trying to find things to do in the rain!!!!
Ann and I talked and laughed for a few hours, put the world to rights, and discussed which Politician was the most useless. The list was so long that we decided to say which one was the most useful - but we couldn't think of one!!!!
Hazel, you're going great guns with your buttonholes, and I've been doing a sun dance for you, so don't worry about Thursday, it'll be lovely. I'm glad Roberta is getting out and about, but it's a shame the weather is not better as there is nothing more lovely than Scotland when the sun shines. I'm also glad that your washer was just a bit poorly, and is better now. These things always happen at the most awkward times.
Saba, I'm starting to feel sorry for Peter and our enjoyment at his turbo cutting. Soft, that's my middle name. Oh no, not another name!!!!
George has just walked in the room before he goes bowling - the rain is coming down like a torrent - and he looks like the abominable snowman. White waterproof overtrousers and white waterproof jacket over white clothes underneath. I nearly choked when I looked up and saw him, which makes a change from him nearly choking me!!!!
Myra, I think you are lethal on your own - you don't need anyone else xxx
    See you later,

    2. Soft,
Fenwick's! I bought a purple suede coat, edged in fur from there in the seventies, wow, that evoked a trip down memory lane.
I can picture George, bet he looked like a criminal pathologist at the scene of the crime!
      Xxxx

      Delete
    3. Yes Myra, I went into Fenwick's to look for shoes, but none fit - that's the trouble with our feet isn't it Saba? If I find some shoes that fit and are comfortable I usually buy two pairs in different colours!!!
Saba, I don't know what Fenwick's was like in the 70's, I am too young, but they still sell coats like the one you bought because they couldn't sell them at the time!!!! lol (tin hat on, I can see the bazooka being loaded).
George looked like a demented Yeti, and he's just come back in. He's pleased because they won - I reckon he frightened them so much they couldn't bowl straight ha ha.
We went for lunch to John Lewis, which used to be Bainbridges. I preferred it when it was Bainbridges, proper Restaurant with waitress service, now a noisy plate clanging cafe. Such is progress. They used to also have two cafe's if you just wanted something quick, but I like to be served, well it's what I'm used to at home ha ha ha ha. (I think I've gone delirious!!!!).
      Muriel xxxxx

    4. Totally agree about the Service! Don't mind having a coffee self service but find it a pain to carry trays, shopping and handbag as well as an umbrella! John Lewis used to have a choice, not any more!
I'm sorry but I really laughed about the coat! You've had it!
Glad George won! Has he defrosted yet? Xxx

    5. Oh I can see we all like the luxury of being served when we go out for coffee and lunch, Patricia and I find that you are cheaper going to a hotel that does morning coffee/tea and you get wonderful service.

  32. Evening Ladies

Work been busy again & I was made aware of comments someone has been making so I need to tackle this individual tomorrow-am not looking forward to that!!

Sandra- I think if you have been sorting our your dies then i'd like a photo to see how you store them.

I feel like a fraud sending in all the photos of cards- I haven't made a card in weeks! Not sure what's the problem, might attempt something tonight as hubby is away until Friday. Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend (an ex colleague) for a meal & Thursday is shopping night + I'll have to ring my Dad. We usually phone each other on Wednesdays & Sundays. Since Mum died (January 2103) he's been quite demanding. I think we're only just coming to terms with it now. I muss her so much so goodness knows how he feels. I do have a brother (lives in Glasgow) but he far too busy to visit us much but he can spend 4 weeks traveling round Spain right now! My Dad lives about a 15 minute walk from me at the other end of the village.

Anyway-now you know more than you wanted to hear I'll make a cuppa and head up to my craft room.

    1. Oh no I don't! You've just had a rough day and have lots on your mind. It's good to let off steam sometimes and this is a good place to do it! It's hard when you are dealing with a parent more or less on your own . The nearest sibling always suffers and the others sometimes get all the glory. Try and relax tonight , my dear, and deal with tomorrow when it comes! I know it's easier said than done. Sending hugs! Xxx

My Mum died 22years ago and I still miss her every day. The pain doesn't go away but it does change over time and so will yours. As for being the sibling nearest yes I was that too as mine lived away and she was always the golden girl and yes always too busy to get to come and see parents. Never mind love you have all your memories of your Mum with you always and will have those of your Dad too.

As for work well stand tall; stand up for your standards and let them have it.

    4. Michele, where would we all be if we couldn't come in and tell our friends how we feel and what is worrying us. This is the fantastic thing about this blog. Everyone listens, sympathises and supports each other. Keeping things to yourself, all bottled up, is a recipe for disaster, so you say what you feel and get it of your chest, and go into work tomorrow and deal with this individual.
Try to put it all to the back of your mind, have a good night's sleep and deal with tomorrow when it arrives.

I know it's late and you've probably gone to bed but just had to say I'll be thinking of you tomorrow tackling your colleague, I presume it's still the one who was causing problems the other week. Take a deep breath, count to 10 and be firm with them - you are in charge don't forget! I lost my mum 19 years ago and yes it is hard, especially if you were close to your mum. My dad found it hard on his own so we often spoke on the phone and we got together most weekends for lunch. Having Emma helped him although he knew mum would have loved having a grandchild around, you almost become the parent to them don't you because you worry they are not feeling well or not coping. We are always here to help you if we can, you could even bring your dad to the cafe, I'm sure he would enjoy a cuppa and a bit of people watching! Xxx

We have been very busy today, I am sitting, PJs on, feet up.
We got a phone call this morning from John Jnr .... Mum!! I always know what is coming when he uses that tone. John had booked today off, Audrey was working. She had not long gone out the door when he was called into work. Luckily we were not doing anything much today. Rain was off so we went to Perth. John had to get his hair cut for the wedding on Thursday. Robert stayed with John, Thomas came with me to do a few things then back to meet John and Robert. Home Via Elaine's Tea Room for lunch. We just got back to the house when the heavens opened. Spent all afternoon playing games, what a laugh we had, it was such great fun. Then it was time to eat once again, plates cleared, kitchen tidy, rain off so they went outside for a while. Dad arrived, I felt so sorry for him when the boys said "oh! no! dads here". I looked at John Jnr, he smiled and said "mum please don't worry at least we know that the boys really happy being here" "Its good for us to go away and never have to wonder if they are Ok!!"

We finally went shopping and by the time we got back it was time for lunch. We then watched a film and had a natter before I started the mammoth pile of ironing and Emma went to work out how to put the holiday video together. I'd just finished the ironing when Julian came in and it was time to start dinner so no time to pop in for a chat. After dinner I got distracted by TV until I came to bed! I must try harder tomorrow to pop in during the day. I must say Maria the cafe wouldn't be the same without you but then again that's the same for all the ladies that pop in, you all make me chuckle and I learn so much. Hazel what a relief your machine was having a funny 5 mins rather than a melt down! The button holes sound lovely. Patricia sounds like your weather is behaving itself!
