Soft Petal Pink & Grey challenge card

Good Morning Ladies,

Thank you all for your lovely comments on yesterday's card, I have to say that I really love those Phil Martin 'Charming' die range,  that scalloped edge is so delicate.

Today's card  is a 'Z-Fold' card, I used the 'Stampin Up! Pretty Peony ' collection, I had forgotten that I had bought the paper collection too and just discovered it yesterday,  which is how this card came about.

I used Grey Granite which is a soft grey mixed with Petal Pink, (a soft peachy pink) I have to say that they are a match made in heaven, the papers feature the same colours too. I used the grey card to make my base card, cutting at 8 x 5 1/4, and scored at 4 inch and again at 2 inch for the 'Z Fold' flap.    The next step was to add the patterned paper which I cut to 1/8 of an inch snaller than the base card and adhered to the base after inking around the edges with Petal Pink ink. I stamped my focal element in Gray Granite and added clear Embossing powder and heat set,  this makes it easier to colour, I used Petal Pink Stampin Blends' to layer up colour onto my Peony,  Old Olive for the foliage and stem.  To make the Peony stand out I used Layered Stiched Label dies cut in Grey Granite and White card and layered, I added Pink ink to edge the white (to tie it into background). I placed the centre of the Label die cut on the fold of the card adding glue to just one side,  to make sure that the panel for the inside was in the right place (so that its hidden when closed) I placed the second die cut Label directly over the one on the front,  added adhesive and closed the card and it lined up perfectly.  I die cut a Sue Wilson sentiment in Petal Pink, edged it a little with ink and adhered it to the panel.  To add the sentiment to the front I used a Julie Hickey stamp to add the sentiment to the die cut tag, I added some grey ribbon and popped it on a foam pad and placed it underneath the Peony.

I hope you like today's card xx

Stay warm Ladies, it's still really cold, I hope it starts to warm up again soon.

Sending Love and huge hugs to all of you,

Sandra                                                                                xxxxxx

  1. Morning Ladies

What a pretty card Sandra. Love the delicate colours & the fancy fold.

We have a damp start to the morning so I’m hoping that means it’s slightly warmer. I stood talking to someone outside yesterday for almost an hour after work and could not get warm all evening. I haven’t slept much last night so I’m not feeling great. Let’s hope work isn’t too busy.

  3. Hi everyone
Beautiful card and I love the colour combo, so pretty.
I sat down yesterday to craft and my mind went blank 🙁 Totally lost my mojo, so I ended up watching films on Netflix! I will have another go today so fingers crossed.
Hope you’re all keeping well and managing to stay warm in this cold weather, think it’s supposed to get a bit warmer next week.
Have a lovely day. Sending hugs to you all xxx

  4. Hello, at least it’s sunny today, big improvement on yesterday.

Sandra such a pretty card, would also make a lovely get well card, that colour way is so soothing.

Hoping to start my challenge card today, if my back doesn’t play up too much.

Had our date for our 2nd jab, 13th of this month, so they still seem to be on target here.

Hope you are all keeping warm, Lilian

  5. Hello Sandra and ladies,

Lovely card Sandra love the delicate colours, so very gentle and calming. xx

We had our second Covid injection today, I received a text yesterday offering me my first COVID-19 and to press the link to make an appointment, also one for John offering him his second (he doesn’t use mobiles so give my number out if anyone asks for a mobile number) when I tried to make an appointment for myself the system was saying ‘no appointments available’ but for John I could book an appointment and that was for this afternoon. Rang the surgery to say I had my first on January 19th, was told it was recorded on their system, the receptionist suggested I went along with John and ask if they had any spare vaccine as the surgery are not able to book appointments. So that’s what I did, had to go through the saga twice once to get into the building next at the reception desk, they informed me this wasn’t the first time it had happened and told to wait in the queue. Fortunately the technician assisting the doctor was very capable and went back to January on her computer to check, she said I can see what went wrong - when you had your first injection whoever inputted the details hasn’t pressed SEND. SUCCESS I could have given her a great big hug!
Sorry to go on ladies - I promise you this is the abridged version anyway Soap Box away now.

Time to move myself and put the dinner on.
Stay safe and warm, love Brenda xxx
