Ombre Emboss Resist

Good Morning Ladies

I hope that you are all well, it has been chilly and very windy here yesterday afternoon and evening, I just could not get my feet warm, I just can't sleep with cold feet either, I usually tuck them under Paul's legs and that does the trick, but he was sound asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow last night so I didn't want to disturb him, so I am going to make a hot water bottle tonight and be prepared!

I was so busy yesterday, making my Onstage Swaps all day that I almost forgot to make a card to post, so I downed tools at 10pm and picked up new tools to rustle up a couple of cards to share with you.  I wanted to try the Emboss Resist Technique with the Ombre effect, so I took my Beautiful Blizzard Snowflake stamps and stamped two backgrounds, I used white embossing powder on the Green card and Clear embossing powder on the Yellow/Blue card, just to do a comparison, I have to say the results were pretty similar when using white card.
The shades of Green are all Stamping Up inks, I used Pool Party, Mint Macaron and Coastal Cabana, I applied them with my Inkyliscious Brushes to start with, then went over with a blending tool to try and get a smoother look.  I the Die cut the 'Happy Holidays' sentiment from the Merry Christmas Die set in both whisper white and Garden Green and layered the two together, although I could not get the darker colour to show up in the photo.  I chose not to add any other embellishments to keep the card relatively simple.
My second card was embossed with clear embossing powder, I then used Distress Oxide inks: Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean, I will add that they blend together a lot easier and took less blending due to the nature of the chalky ink, I love this combination of colours, even though they aren't traditional Christmas colours, this time after the ink was dry I stamped the 'Christmas ' from the 'Merry Christmas to All' stamp set straight onto the Twisted Citron Ink, I added white embossing powder then heat set.  I stamped the happy onto the same colour card that I used for the card base and once again embossed it in white ink, I die cut with a die from the same set added foam pads and placed above the 'Christmas' for a different look.
I really enjoyed playing with the inks for these two cards, I was a relief from the monotony of die cutting the same embellishments over and over again.

Have everything crossed that Sue is coming over today, so that I can delegate some die cutting, while I assemble the swap gifts. xxx

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

Love and hugs to all of you

Sandra

  2. Morning Everyone
from a very wet Sheffield to start the day.

SANDRA- two pretty colourful cards this morning to brighten my dull start to the day.

Yesterday afternoon was lovely with a full compliment so lots of chatting and crafting. It's my turn to 'take and make' in two weeks so I need to get wheels in motion.

I have had another request for a tissue box cover so need to get that started and hopefully get some more Seasonal cards done. Thank goodness I batch make for this Season.

PAT- I hope Pete's Dr appointment well well.

LYNDA- my ATCs are going in the post today so fingers crossed they arrive safely and undamaged.

The CAFE is OPEN as usual so pop in when you can. There's a Lemon Drizzle cake waiting to be eaten.

HUGS are winging their way to you all. Take care xxxx

    1. Hi Janet
It was the dentist we were seeing today Janet. Pete was so bad today and still is. That we were late. I dropped Pete off so the dentist helped him into her surgery and out again. He was shaking so much that a gentlemen in the waiting room asked if Pete wanted to borrow his coat. Even though Pete had his thick coat on. I had to park on double yellows to pick him up as he could hardly walk.

    1. Hi Brenda.
Well I haven’t had my flu jab. I turned up at the surgery 3 weeks ago to have it done and it was heaving. So I left as Pete was getting agitated having to wait. I then made another appointment for last Sat. But because I had to see to Pete and the man came to do his car windscreen, I completely forgot. So I’m taking Pete down for blood tests tomorrow so I’ll ask for another appointment. Pete had already had his so the dr said I ought to have mine done as well.

  8. Hi Sandra and ladies.
Two lovely cards today Sandra. I also didn’t realise that clear embossing powder on white card makes the embossing look white. But I suppose thinking about it it’s logical isn’t it.
One of the ladies I work with at the school has just popped in a given us some vouchers to either have a cream tea or lunch at Huffkins in Witney. How thoughtful was that.
I hope Sue managed to get over to help you today.
Hugs to all who need one today.
