Good Monday Morning Ladies,
Welcome to the start of a new week, a very busy week it will be too !
Karen I love how you keep the special tradition of having breakfast with the zoo staff, are there many there that worked with Gary ? Will Charlotte come too , although I'm sure she will be busy with the boys on Christmas morning.
Now they say 'every day is a school day' and yesterday I learnt something new from Our Lilian, I thought at first that 'Launder' was a 'typo' but then I thought Lilian doesn't usually make spelling errors so I went and googled 'Launders' the definition is "An open channel or trough for moving liquids or waste water" they are often used in Mining areas. I'm hoping that you have learnt something from me being inquisitive too.
Thank you Lilian xx
Now I'm aware that today's offering isn't a great journal page, however I think it's important to share things imperfections and all and journal pages are about experimenting and learning. I wanted to have a play with my Arden Creative stamp set that I've had a few weeks and not used, sometimes the Multi layer stamps are really tricky to line up so I thought I'd have a practice in my art journal. I used Tim Holtz watercolour pencils to apply colour to the stamps, by scribbling a bit of pencil on my craft mat and spritzing with water, then scribble in the watered down colour, this gets the end of the pencil wet and the colour pigment primed, I then just used the pencil to colour the background/base stamp, I combined two greens for interest and stamped the image 3 times onto the journal page. I dried the background and then took the detail /top layer of the stamp and lined the image up with the base layer, which was easy with this poinsettia, I just picked that one small leaf that is on its own. Because this an abstract style of stamp set it really doesn't matter if its not perfectly lined up. I used the same colour distress ink (as the watercolour pencil) to stamp the sentiment. I added some stamping around the edges that I'm not to sure about, then added some red centres of the poinsettias. I took a paintbrush to flick some colour off of the end of the pencils onto the background as a finishing touch.
I hope that you all have a great start to your week,
Love & hugs to all,
Sandra xxx
