Spellbinders Romantic Rose, Monochrome!

Good Morning Ladies,
A bit of a slow day here yesterday, but  I was keen to get in the craft room to play, I always like
to open new ink pads and do a little colour swatch, it makes it easier to find matching ink for card stock if you have them ready stamped on a piece of white/black card. The colour on the label can be very deceiving at times!  So I did that, used some of my new magnetic sheets to try and sort some
dies out and then sat and stroked and "ooo'd & aaaa'd " at the colours  of the new Anna Marie Card that I bought, just too nice to use!
Today's card I made for Paul to send to his Aunt in Canada, sadly his uncle had just died of lung cancer, so sad, Aunty Rita didn't really want loads of sympathy cards but Paul felt that he wanted her to know that she was in our thoughts, so I used the Spellbinders Romantic Rose die cuts that I made when Pat was over a couple of weeks ago, I layered them with Spellbinders Matting dies , I stamped the Justrite sentiment in the centre of the smaller die and added a couple of tiny Camellia Flowers from Creative Expressions Open and Closed Camellia Petals, in black and white.
I took my usual 8 X 8 card and matted it with black card and them white that had been Embossed with the Creative Expressions Floral Brocade Folder, designed of course by Sue Wilson, I placed my focal element at the top centre of the card and run a piece of black satin ribbon across  the lower
section of the card and adhered a Triple Bow to the centre, topped with a couple of pieces of the C E Delicate Fronds die cuts in white and popped a larger Camellia on top of that, made using both the Open and Closed Die Sets. I popped a few black gems around to finish the card.
I hope you like the card, I am finding more and more of the new Spellbinders that I like and that would work very well with Sue's dies too.
Lynda sent me a photograph of her
Huge Shopping basket from Ally Pally, those die storage cases in the background were a proper bargain, I wish I had bought some now, as the came with 10 pockets in with a double magnetic sheet in each pocket, so twenty sets of dies atleast in each folder! She got loads of dies too and some masks by the look of it, Lynda please let me know how you get on with that Stamp Positioner thingy, Sue and I looked at them at Farnborough but weren't sure about it, great idea though, for people like me that aren't very confident with stamping!

Well that's al for today Ladies except to say that Sam I hope the Doctors Visit went well, I look forward to seeing you back at your number one slot in the morning, after feeding your boys their buttered toast, fingers crossed for you my lovely!
Love and Hugs
Sandra

  6. Morning Ladies

Beautiful card Sandra. We 're meeting my friend Daves wife tomorrow for lunch & I
want to make a card for her (not a sympathy card) but something more like your card. I asked her to join us & her reply was so sad -" she was touched that we'd even thought of including her"!

Lynda-WOW, that was a mega crafty shop. Everything looks so interesting- hope you have fun using it all.

  8. Good morning Sandra and everyone in the cafe.....such a beautiful card Sandra and what a great Spellbinders die, haven't seen this one yet so I must check it out. Lynda you have bought some great items there.....I bought one of those dotty die cases at a special price at a craft show because they were slightly creased and I wish I had bought another couple. I'm trying to get back into crafting as I need to make a Silver Wedding anniversary card but my mind keeps wondering off thinking about Clive...he would be asking me if I was winning as I take so long to make a card! So I will have a quick coffee and get back to it.
Hope all went well at the doctors Sam and hugs to everyone you are a lovely bunch of ladies and it was great to see such lovely photos of some of you yesterday.

Lovely to see you. Craft does help to take you away from the here and now, so I'm sure it will help but as others have said one day at a time. Do you have a friend nearby who crafts? I bounce ideas of a crafty friend sometimes and if we sit together to craft time seems to fly. I think it's lovely you can hear Clive talking to you in the background , I'm sure he would be there giving you encouragement.

  14. Hellooooooooooooo,
Sandra, first of all I hope you are feeling well this morning and taking things easy, well easier.
Second, what a beautiful sympathy card, without being gushing. It's so elegant and says that you are thinking of her, what more could anyone want?
Now you sit still Sandra, I'll help myself to a latte and a toasted tea cake and sit myself in the corner to wait for Mrs B. My money's in the pot.
Lynda, I enlarged Sandra's photo to see what you'd got and nearly went cross eyed trying to look at everything. Can I come with Diane to help you play with your new goodies, and that goes to all the others who went to Ally Pally. If you want someone to keep you company, I'm your girl (girl - who am I kidding lol).
Sam, I hope you are feeling brighter today.
Cheryl, I hope you are well and I'm thinking of you.
Hazel, I'm thinking of you and your long day ahead, that will be me next week, although not quite so long. I'm thinking of giving up my three sessions volunteering at the school, but I know the girls will be disappointed, especially as I won't be getting the school bus with them. They have been on the phone from Spain this morning asking when they can have sleep over!! Keep away from Patricia in case she turns you into something else other than crumbs today - sisters, I ask you!!
Patricia, did you see that I posted last night that the Works were selling washi tape packet of 3 for £1? It was before I signed off but you had already gone, so I addressed it to Hazel.
Steph, I hope you are well.
Norah, I hope you are well.
Sheila, it's lovely to see you post xx
Miichele, how lovely of you to think of inviting your friend's widow to lunch. A lot of people are not so thoughtful and the person left behind gets very lonely. How's your name tag doing - had any interesting comments yet??

She has to have a new back protector for eventing, I do agree it's like a riding hat they do need them and Anna's is just on the small side. When will that girls stop growing!!! Well I am only working today and a couple of hours on Thursday, am I bothered no. They have been invite to a friends for the day. It's good for them to have company of their own age. Glad my sister hasn't turned me into crumbs again it was a bit messy where ever I went or was that the die cut bits??? From me playing with that new die? Has my tea, money in the pot. Afternoon one and all
Just had lunch and had a lovely if very exhausting morning going round the monthly market in Corbigy. I managed to find some different ribbons so purchased some of those but put tempation behind me when I saw packs of wool and embroidery packs as I want to see what Sue has for sale on her up and coming C&C shows.
Thank you Cheryl re buying one of my GC machines. You certainly can have one and I've asked Sandra to let you have my email address so I can sort things out with you. I cannot do anything until I get back to the UK in a couple of weeks so I hope that's OK with you.

Right comfy chair and feet up in the veranda as it's a beautiful day and very warm. You never know I might even pick up my cross stitch I've started that's if my fingers will awake and do what they're supposed to do lol.

My hugs are on their way so can some--one please put them in the basket after taking one or two for themselves. Will pop by later.

Oh Sandra I'm so sorry I forgot your card is just out of this world and definitely fits the bill not completely a sympathy card but one to just let Auntie know that despite all the miles apart you are all thinking of her. I'm sure that she will cherish it.

Sheila it's lovely to have you back in the cafe.
Norah where are you? I hope all's well.
Now for all those purchases from the week-end I think we all should be able to help sort out and of course be 'testers' to see how they all work - how about it ladies?

I asked the same of Tina.E last year and look at her now, she's loving it, I really think you stand a good chance hon. Please give it some thought at least.

What a lovely card . It looks really elegant and is just right for the occasion for which you made it. I'm sure Paul's Auntie will love it.
Well, Patricia and her window cleaning gave me the impetus I needed and windows are half done! Now now - I don't mean I cleaned half the window! Downstairs nearly done - upstairs to go!
We had a little hiccup earlier - my lovely husband was using his Karcher power washer! Suddenly it stopped , he came inside and announced - power cut! Since everything in the kitchen was working I poured cold water on that idea. Discovered he had plugged this big machine into an outside plug I have in the porch for Christmas lights! Yep he blew the fuse! Men!
Well I've had me little rant! Have a good day everyone,
    See you later!

  20. Hello Sandra and the lovely crew,
I just don't know where to start,
Sandra I think your card is perfect, it lets Paul's aunt know you are thinking of her and I am sure she will be very touched to receive it.
I have looked through the window these last few days to see what you have all been up to and it was lovely to see the photos and be able to put some names to faces. And to see all your purchases. I wish I had seen those ink pads, I would definitely have bought some. As it is though both Joanne and I spent a fortune.
We arrived on Sunday at about 11am following our day out in sightseeing in London and seeing Phantom in the evening. Phantom was amazing, I have seen it on DVD before, but to see it on stage was something else.
Ally Pally was lovely in that it wasn't too busy and there were no crowds around the stalls so shopping was perfect. I have been to shows before where you simply cannot get near so I was very pleasantly surprised. It was a delight to finally meet Sue and we spent quite a lot of time chatting. She mentioned she had met a few of you the day before and also that she had met Patricia and Hazel previously. Patricia, she said that the tablet "cake" which you made when you met her was the best thing she has ever eaten! Not sure if that was what she called it, I am sure you will know what I meant. Myra, when I told her I had met you she asked me what you were like, and when I told her what good friends we had all become she was delighted and said that had she not been away when we all met on our retreat, she would have considered coming along.
We returned Sunday evening, very tired but happy. Yesterday was spent with Oliver and then an early night. Glorious weather here, we have been in the garden most of the morning and I think I have seriously damaged every muscle in my body bouncing on his trampoline and now we are setting off to a park. I do hope it's not the one with the zip wire otherwise I might not survive the day.
I shall be back this evening to read what you have all been up to but in the mean time, Sam it's lovely to hear from you.
Brenda hope all went well at the hospital yesterday.
Sheila so pleased you are feeling up to joining us, it must be so very hard for you. Special loving hugs for you.

LINDA Your stash looks great, I bought one of the dotty storage cases and wished I had bought more too. Off to play with my stash now
PATRICIA Have you seen the technique Ally Reeve does? She tears strips of masking tape to get rid of the straight sides and edges and covers a piece of card, the more random the better. 31. Hi Sandra
A stunning black and white card today. Must have a play with that die. To be truthful I hadn't realised that I'd bought it. My brain must do a number on me sometimes. As you didn't understand the nasty message from last week on your blog Sandra. Well just assume the the person got the wrong blog and ignore it, if you can.
Well I'm not to sure who said no news was good news. Oh yes, that was me wasn't it. Well we went to the hospital fir me first and everything is ticking along nicely with my hip. Now Pete asked the Dr if I could start the digging tomorrow. He was aghast and said not for at least another 3mths. But I could do some gentle pottering. He got down on his knees, that's the Dr not Pete to show me how I could weed. No stretching etc. if I see a weed to the side of me, I was to stand up and turn round to face it and then pull it out. I told Pete off as I very rarely do any gardening, but Pete said he was only joking, but the Dr didn't know that I said, killing myself with laughter.
Well, after lunch we went to the Churchill for Pete, me assuring him all the time if anything was really wrong they would have called him sooner, how wrong can you be. We were devastated to learn that his Cancer has spread to his bones, mainly to his spine and pelvis. Pete looks and feels really well as Sandra and Mrs B can testify. We talked about new medication for him which has to be funded and authorised apparently. He has a load of papers to read ( which he won't ) that will be down to me. We go back in 2 weeks where he will have to sign papers to say he'll start this new treatment. We had a specialist nurse come in to speak to us after Mr Protheroe left us. At least we saw the head Man, which you always seem to do when some bad news has to be reported. I'll have to try and keep spirits up as he's a glass half empty kind of guy rather than a glass half full one. Plenty of reading for me in the next few days.

Nice to see you back on the blog. I agree with you. I have looked back and it's sad that the person who posted last Wednesday is so inadequate that they have to remain anonymous. If they only realised that they could have a ball and be cheered up and supported on this wonderful blog, they would not vent their spleen on such a lovely lady as you, and incidentally because it is aimed at you, it applies to all of us. We must just hope that whoever it is regrets their actions and is sorry, they might be in a very dark place at the moment.

Diane:- sorry if I started something but I bet all the work done makes the place look great. See it was all worth it, even if you feel tired it's a "good" tired is it not???
I never did the rest of my windows cleaned yesterday. Will get them done tomorrow.
We had a great day with the boys, spent far too much money's on them but Hey! Ho! they are worth it. They got their cycling shoes PLUS new Joggers and T-shirts. whitch will stay here. The both got trainers to take home with them as well. They have clothes here in case they fall in the "burn" ..... the little stream that runs along the side of the garden. They arrive in "play clothes" sometimes then we deside to take off so they also need half decent things to change into.
Poor wee Robert ends up with a lot of Thomas's things but he really does not bother. All Roberts go to my friend Isobel who lives across the road for her Grandsons, nothing wasted.

Where a Big Ice Cream was waiting for us.
Sorry , Sandra YES it was Ciara we were taking out. She said on the train back home it's been a lovely day. Tomorrow she is going with school friends and mums to see Wicked at the Apollo. I should have said I would be happy to go as a minder. Because I haven't seen the show.
I have not been able to get my sleepy head around what has been going on today, I need more time to get my head around it. BUT why would anyone send YOU an offence email? You are the last person on this earth who would upset or offend anyone.
Rest your head, cast whoever it is out of your thoughts, don't feed their evil mind with your worries. If you ignore them, they are beaten.

Looked back to see your weirdo's comment...just delete and ignore. There are lots of nutters who spend their lives writing rubbish on their computers. Generally random shite, like this. You should see the emails I get daily. Today I had 2 bills for items I have never bought, 1 win..(really) and a court appearance, again just deleted. It's so sad that this is how some idiots get their kicks. It's why I don't use facebook either, I have seen too often what happens with nasties on that.
Right, I'm off to bed. They say the sun will shine tomorrow, here's hoping.
    Hugs for anyone still up

Oh good lord that reminds me I haven't locked the door, hang on back in a sec!

    2. Sandra , I'm still here and I will stay here until you are happy to settle down for the night! Please don't rush about - don't want you to fall.

    3. Don't stay up on my account my lovely, I was late coming to bed, I had to remember to do all the things that Paul does, for instance I almost forgot to feed the cats, then there was the doors, things that I don't think about normally, if I did them regularly I would remember, that's the Molly coddled life I lead!

    4. Wow have you seen pick of the day?

    5. Sandra, we are all a bit like that! Alastair does things like locking up and putting milk bottles out and putting cars in garage! I clear up the kitchen as I hate to come down to a mess in the morning even if it is just cups! Sad eh? I'm not a morning person! Don't worry about me - I am wide awake - despite the window cleaning! Xx

    6. Is it the Spellbinders one? I didn't really look properly? Xx

    7. It is a beautiful collection of Spellbinders, £249 though!

    8. Wow! That's a lot of money! I really need a new iron! Boring I know but necessary.

      Delete
    9. We have had the iron we have now for. Few years, I went through a period of them burning out after a few months, this one is a Steam generator iron and it's fab, the steam is so good you can steam dresses etc on the hanger, I think it's a Morphy Richards one, the tank sits on the floor and the iron on the board! Would definitely recommend it !

    10. I was going to say that I wasn't sure if it was worth spending the extra to get a steam generator . So that's really good to know.

      Delete
    11. Ours wasn't the most expensive but it's still done us ok, things like you only need iron one side of jeans etc as the steam is powerful enough to go through both sides ! You need an ironing board that is kind of open mesh, pat is like my mum and still has her original board and it's a solid sheet of metal with an asbestos plate for your iron!
That would be no use for steam ironing

    12. I've just bought a new board! I'd had the other one for years and years and it weighed a ton! Well not quite but it was heavy. At least I wouldn't need a new board!

    13. Are you like me and do loads of looking round and comparing before you take the jump into buying something big household wise?

      Delete
    14. Yes! The thing is nowadays there's so much choice and sometimes quite a wide price range . When we had the kitchen done last year it took ages to settle on appliances - then I had to learn to work them all! Everything now seems to beep! Leave fridge door ajar - it beeps! Dishwasher beeps when it finishes! Kettle beeps when it boils! I could go on. I must say I like the fridge beep and the freezer too because that is helpful.

    15. Myra, please tell me you are not ironing at this time of night/morning.
I also have a steam generator iron and would not swap it for the world. The only thing I would say is if you do buy one look out for one which you can fill whilst stil switched on. Mine has to be switched off and allowed to cool down first and if you are doing a lot of ironing in one go it can be a bit of an inconvenience.

  52. Sandra are you in bed yet?
I have just popped back and there are one or two things I really wanted to say.
Most importantly to Pat, so sorry love to hear your news, however, as everyone else has said, they would not be looking into a new treatment if they were not optimistic, so try and remain positive, sending you love, healing hugs and prayers.
PatWyn, so glad you have felt up to,coming back in and sorry you have been in a bad place, please let us help you.
    And finally
Sandra, the coward who published anonymously is really not worth bothering about. Not only a coward, but also illiterate, they don't understand the use of apostrophe s, and obviously don't have a very good vocabulary either if they have to resort to foul language and on top of all that they are stupid enough not to realise they could be prosecuted for using threatening behaviour on a blog. So all in all not worth bothering about. We all care deeply about you.
    Love and hugs

Look into my eyes, look into my eyes. You are feeling sleepy. Think happy thoughts, close your eyes, dream of more dies for your collection, sleep.

Do you think that will have done the trick Myra?

    3. Good morning Saba,
Thank you my lovely for your reassuring words, for both myself and the others, I was devastated at Pats news about Pete, he is a remarkable man, if you were to meet him you would never know that he had cancer, he seems so fit and well and always busy helping out older folk who live near them! Life just seems so unfair at times!
How much longer do you have left over here?
      Love and hugs
