Mixed Up Saturday

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

How can this be the last weekend of March, the clocks go forward tonight,  the bonus if that means lighter nights, it certainly doesn't seem possible that it's Easter next weekend.

The girls hours get longer when the clocks change too they finish at 5pm instead of 4pm,  it barely seems a minute that they were excited about finishing earlier!

I thought I'd share my craft achievements from the past couple of days πŸ€£πŸ˜‚, don't get excited, they don't amount to much!

On Wednesday Sonia and I made flowers from different mediums,  mine was a bit long winded, I mixed some wood glue with water and coated some cotton fabric with it and set it to dry on the Aga,  once dry I die cut some flowers from it and the stamped some dots in the centres, I then used a heated shaping tool to give them some definition,  (which was very much trial and error)πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

The other flowers are foamiran, I think Sonia had more success than I did,   all I will say is that we spent more time laughing at our disasters than smiling at our achievements! πŸ€£πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

Yesterday I was experimenting with Alcohol inks and Alcohol Lift Ink.

I blended 3 different inks and used a Tim Holtz stamp with Lift ink to take a print from the inked piece and stamped onto a piece of card,  the second piece on from the left, has the same 3 inks blended, I then placed a stencil over the background and used Alcohol Lift ink re-inker on a finger dauber to ink through the stencil,  you then gently press over the stencil to remove excess ink, the repeat without the stencil,  the pattern is revealed slowly,  its really wffective. I will make them into cards and share them with you.

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Love & hugs to all of you

Sandra xxx

  1. Hi everyone
Can't believe either that it's the last weekend of this month, it has gone so quick.
I like the saying and I do prefer crafting then doing the house work that's for sure 😊. Love the flowers that you and Sonia have made. I never managed to get the hang of doing the foamiran flowers, too tough for my hands. Great you had a fun day together.
Can't stand this thing with moving the clocks twice a year. I have been up since 5.30 am , couldn't sleep so be fun later. Nothing planned but think we need some fruit in so might pop to Lidl. Have a new crystal work out so will have a little play later, just watching a film at the moment and having a mug of tea.
Have a wonderful day everyone. Many hugs to you all, Maria xxx

  3. Hi everyone
Love the quote! I have a good excuse for no housework this week (apart from laundry) I had to leave my hoover at mum and dads on Tuesday and won’t be picking it up till this week, so no point doing any dusting if I can’t hoover after! πŸ˜‰πŸ€£
    Love todays reminder πŸ₯°
Your flowers are fabulous, we had a laugh didn’t we! You certainly made more than me, and although I’m happy with my foam ones, I haven’t got a decent glue to stick them together πŸ™„ I tried my normal glue, bookbinding glue, wood glue and none of them held. I ended up using the old glue dots! I have got my glue gun, but find it so messy with leaving strings of glue that I didn’t bother with thatπŸ˜… Anyway I used a couple of the flowers on a card I made yesterday and will send it over for tomorrow 😊
I love your alcohol ink pieces, now that is something I’ve never had much luck with using! Yours are beautiful.
    Have a good day everyone
Sending hugs to you all xx

  4. Hi Sandra and all looking in. It was lovely to spend time with you yesterday. Your alcohol ink play got some lovely results. Love that colour combo. Your flowers are lovely too. It’s just a shame that they take so long to make, especially for you when you need to make the next days card or page too xx
I couldn’t believe my eyes when Gem and I were looking in a charity shop in Witney and saw they had flower making foam in packs of 10 A4 sheets for a pound. I snapped up the 3 packs of white as it can be coloured to whatever you want so I left the other packs of different colours. What a great bargain 😁 now I must sit and use it!
Sleep well everyone. Take care. Love Sue xx
