Mixed Up Saturday featuring Michele's Magazine Review

Milly-May' Fima Meraids

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

I hope that you are all well, what are you all up to this weekend, so exciting to think that you can all start seeing your families from Monday, although this Indian variant is a huge concern.  I am due my 2nd vaccination next week, I am looking forward to being fully covered but I am not looking forward to the side effects, thats why we have had to change our visit to Danielle,  we were going next Friday and staying until Sunday, but I have my jab friday and couldn't risk being as ill as I was last time while visiting, plus I don't want to take any symptoms to Danielle,  as she hasn't been able to have her 2nd vaccination.  So we changed the day to  this coming Monday.

I think the weather will dictate this weekend's activities! I hope you all manage to relax and enjoy it.

Now let's see what lovely crafts we have today.....

the opening photograph is Milly-May's Mermaids,  Cheryl sat and played with Fima clay with Milly-May,  she clearly enjoyed it and she has got some serious creative hands, the detail on those mermaids is incredible,  look at the hair!! Milly-May please keep Crafting you are naturally gifted and take after your Nan/Grandma when it comes to creativity.

Thank you so much for sharing Milly-May's makes Cheryl XXX

What an absolutely amazing idea this is Cheryl, everyone gets a very special keepsake of Pete. Cheryl's niece Jacqui used Pete's West Ham Polo shirt to create these cute little bears. Such a fantastic idea and a great way of taking one thing and make keepsakes for many.  Jacqui is very clever! Thanks so much for sharing this great idea Cheryl XXX

Michele's Magazine Review

Hi Ladies,

Diecutting Essentials has a really lovely set of dies as the free gift this month.

Here’s some ideas of what’s inside the magazine.

First feature using the free gift-such pretty, colourful cards

More ideas in pastel colours.

Some different ideas using the free gift in this article.

Brushed velvet technique-I think this looks great & am tempted to try this out.

Great idea using your embossing folders & water reactive inks.

I love the inked look this technique produces.

Wrap cards-what stunning cards they make,

Die cut telescopic apertures-what fantastic cards this technique makes. So simple but easy.

More ideas.

Some ideas for male cards-you could use other shapes or designs, whatever you have in your stash.

Ideas using feathers & dream catchers.

More ideas which would be good for men’s cards.

Bright cards using tag dies.

More inspiration.

That’s all for this week so
Happy Crafting.

Love Michele

Fantastic review Michele,  I love the free gift that you get with the magazine. The inspiring sample cards are lovely too. The Boho Vibes feature appeals to me, I just bought a load of brown card from Pink frog after seeing some lovely cards made with Brown and shades of blue. The cards in this feature really appeal to me. Thank you so much Michele for taking time out of your week to write this review for us XXX

Thats all for today Ladies,  I really struggled to get this post written as our Internet went off at around 4pm yesterday,  it's 9pm as I finish this and its still not back on.  So I want to publish while I have a bit of very rare mobile signal !!

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra                                                                                xxxxxx

  1. Morning Everyone
Oh I love love love Milly May's Mermaids. What a wonderful talent Nan has passed on.

CHERYL-those teddies are just beautiful and what a keepsake they truly are.I'm sure each one will be treasured and passed on.

We have a very dull start here this morning and the skies are threatening rain. I have everything crossed that we manage to get to M&S foodhall and back dry and not like last week.

The CAFE is OPEN of course and cupcakes are available this afternoon.Have a really good week-end whatever you all due.
MARGARET-I'm thinking of you. TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFExxxx

  2. Morning Ladies

Cheryl & Milly May-your makes are lovely, so creative.

We have a wet start to the day-in fact rain is forecast for the whole weekend. I did some gardening yesterday afternoon then sat out reading, didn’t stay out too long as it wasn’t that warm.

Once I’ve been to the village I’m hoping to go in my craft room and find some inspiration.

  3. Oh Milly May Your mermaids are beautiful and CHERYL your niece’s sewing talents are amazing What a clever idea
Thank you for the review MICHELE I was “allowed” (hee hee 🤣) to pop into Hobbycraft yesterday and saw this BUT I resisted only because it was another set of butterfly dies
It is absolutely chucking it down at the moment I have my sewing machine out to make another cushion cover and a couple of face masks for my sister in law She has just started wearing hearing aids and as careful as she is occasionally yanks them out when removing a mask I intend to use the idea that the elastic goes around the back of the head unless you ladies have any better ideas
Take care all Big hugs to MARGARET xx

  4. Hi Sandra & ladies
    Love Milly Mays mermaids.
Great idea about the keepsakes Cheryl. Karen’s friend made us each a rabbit keepsake from some of Pete’s tee shirts. That sits on the sofa. It has moveable arms & legs.
Great magazine reviews Michele. I do appreciate seeing them even if I don’t buy the magazine.
It’s very dull here and windy. It has been raining here but I’m not to sure if it is now,
Take care & stay safe everyone.

  8. Afternoon ladies,

A very busy time in the loft sorting out things I no longer have a need for that just got dumped up there to make space down here. Obviously last year was a washout for every one and being either in isolation or shielding for 13 months meant I could not go the charity shops even if they were open in-between the lockdowns.

And on top of that I will shortly be having a Safety and Escape Visit from Mandy my Fire Brigade Liaison Officer, another good reason for emptying the loft.

Thank you all for your lovely comments on our Mermaids which I will certainly pass on to Milly-May, she will be so pleased. We certainly didn't realize how long they would take us, good job we had Katy-Sue design moulds. I'd bought them from Craft Declutter sellers over a matter of months along with Poseidon/Neptune, a door, pillars and stonework. Last weekend was the first time we could get together. As I said to Sandra, Milly-May's fingers being smaller than mine she definitely had an advantage in making her little girl mermaid. We a were really pleased with the results when they came out of the oven, there's mistakes but like Milly-May said 'We are learning Nanny' bless her. Personally I think I do prefer the soft foam air dry clay.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, we have had yet more torrential downpours all day thus far.

    Love 7 hugs
    Cheryl xxx

  9. Hello Sandra and ladies,

Oh Cheryl you reminded me of when our grandchildren were younger, I had a tin I kept my Femo in, we would make all kinds of models together it was always an enjoyable activity to share. I love Milly-Mays mermaids I bet she was really pleased with the results and of course they are something special to show and tell.
Brilliant idea of turning a treasured team polo shirt into individual bears, that way so many get a share of something that was special to Pete.

Michele thank you for the magazine review.

Have a lovely evening everyone, take care and stay safe.
    Love Brenda xxx
