Mixed Up Saturday

This is totally me, every time I 'reorganise' my stash, I literally just shuffle everything and move it to a different spot ! 🤣😂

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

We had a very wet start to this weekend,  it rains pretty much all day yesterday,  it isn't much rain forecast today or to tomorrow 🤞 Monday looks like a wash out though, which is such a blow for all of the organised May fairs etc or May day celebrations.  I hope the sun shows its face where you are.

Simply Cards and papercraft magazine
Issue 256

This issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft has some lovely free gifts
The stamp set is lovely, 2 goid size stencils and a collection of toppers and papers, they are good quality too, not shiny magazine paper.

Nicky Gilburt has made some lovely cards with this Issue's Wild Mesdow stamps.  The cards are all gorgeous and each one uses a different technique or colouring method, there are a couple of 'step by step' demonstrations too.

I dont usually share adverts but I actually think this free gift is worth having,  you get a set of 12 small blender brushes and a set of four larger ones.  A good gift if you are considering subscribing to a magazine.

Tried & Tested.... 'Sizzix Gotcha'  tool, its a magnetic stand for any dies you have on your desk, you can use it to hold your dies until you put them, or you can use it to wave over your working area to find any misplaced dies.
Its £20 mind, I might consider it for £10 maybe but not £20 !!

Sarah Jackman Read shows us lots of different projects using the 'off the edge' technique.   There are some lovely garden themed projects including Plant pot labels and a seed packet storage box.  There is a also a downloadable template for the 3D Watering Can card.

Sarah Phelan has a designed a card that uses sentiment stamps to create a background,  we all have sentiment stamps, this id another way to use them.

Christine shows us a variety of ways to use Vellum on our cards, so different ideas too, not just stamping a sentiment onto a strip and adding it.  There are cards with vellum die cuts to add texture and dimension, or embossing a piece of vellum and laying over an ink background, it can soften bright colours and add some texture too.

Katie Skelton combines all of the free gifts to create cards for all kinds of occasions.  Some are super simple designs, others are a bit more complicated but they are all totally achievable.

Finally we have some "Inventive Ideas" from Vanessa Hodgson.  Some great ways to get more use out of your stamps.  I love the look of some of these cards.

All in all a good issue with some great free gifts and plenty of inspiration.

**************

I have been looking for some storage ideas for dies that come in cello bags and stamp sets where the packaging has torn and I have keep relocating stamps that fall out.
You get a set of 10 wallets and ten magnetic sheets, you can use the none magnetic side of the sheet to put your stamps on or you could save the magnetic sheet and laminate a piece of 7 x 5 inch card, they see good and sturdy so far.  If any of you want a link just message me .

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend

  2. Hi, the saying is me down to the ground, like Karen I need to do a big clear out.

Great magazine review, I’ve not bought any of the crafting magazines for months, so I ordered this one, you make it sound very useable. Shame about their heavy postage charge, still looking forward to it coming, I’ve also ordered indigo blue’s new box mag.
Hoping maybe that will boost my mojo.

Hope you all have a lovely May Day holiday weekend. Lilian

  4. Hi everyone
The saying is me too, it's never changes.😊
Thanks for the magazine review. Lots of interesting ideas in there but will pass I think as already bought the one before.
Having a good time with my sister and the weather was holding up for the whole day so done a lot of walking but also lots of sitting down in cafés and a cathedral . Last night's dinner for her and I was very Scottish with Haggis and deep fried Mars bar for desert. Loved the haggis but they can keep the DF Mars bar 🤭🤣. Taking her and her friend to the Ivy tonight, just having a rest at the hotel for a bit.
Hope you all have had a nice day and managed to do something that you liked.
Many hugs to you all xxx

  5. Hello Sandra and everyone,
Great quote and magazine review with lots of very interesting articles in. Thank you for taking the time to review this magazine.
Another quiet day today, haven’t any energy to do much, did go for a walk down to the greenhouse to check on the plants and seeds, everything is starting to germinate and grow, so will have a job planting everything on in a week or so.fortunately I haven’t gone to mad.
Hope you have had a good day, Big Hugs Brenda xxx

  6. Hi Sandra and all looking in. Great to catch up as I didn’t realise I hadn’t been in except for yesterday.
What a gorgeous journal page, love the texture and depth you created, and the colours you used too.
Thanks for the review. I love the stamp set you get with the Simply cards magazine this month. And looks like some great articles. Typical that there is such a good free gift just when I have cancelled my subscription! Agree that the Sizzix magnet is a handy idea as I often spend ages trying to find a die on my very messy desk in the middle of crafting, especially small ones but £20 is too much. Will have to look for this issue in Tesco.
The last couple of days disappeared with catching up and then blooming migraine but have just woken up feeling much brighter thank goodness.
I hope you all have a relaxing couple of days welcoming in May. Where did those first four months of the year go???
    Take care. Love Sue xx
