Mixed Up Saturday

Good Saturday Morning Ladies,

Welcome July, I wonder what weather this month will bring us??  Not that we will have much time to be sitting out in the Sun for the next few weeks, let's hope it's a month filled with sunshine and happiness 😊 🌞

We had a much cooler day yesterday, very overcast and gloomy too, but the relief from the heat was very welcome!  It was quite a quiet day, I was home alone in the morning so I sat and played with my Seaside stamps from Inkiliscious, these will make a perfect birthday card for Paul, I usually go for a sea theme as his birthday is so close to our holiday and like me his 'Happy Place' is the beach too.  After Paul got home we had some lunch and then I got straight into writing todays Blog post, the rest of the day seemed to disappear after that.

We have no big plans today but we have an enormous task ahead so we need to start to put a plan together to start the ball rolling with packing ready to move.  So we must source some boxes for packing. I will have to take things easy though as we are going to Newbury tomorrow to the Crafterama show!

Sue has very kindly written us a magazine review so lets have a look at that......

Simply Card & Papercraft

Issue 245

This month we have free gifts of Seashells by the seashore from Creative craft products. You get an A6 emboss & cut seashells folder, a stamp sentiment, a die sentiment and lots of digital downloads.

Nicky Gilburt has made some pretty cards using the freebies. I will definitely be making the card with the net on it. She has used loose-weave hessian as the net and it looks really effective. The good thing about this collection is that they are great for the men so that is always a bonus.

Tried& Tested this month is the Eureka 101 3-in-1 tool crafting tool set from Stamps by me.

1. It is a 12” x 12” stamping platform using the usual magnets to hold card in place.

2. It has a scoreboard which can be slotted into the base of the platform.

3. It has 9 wells around the edge for use when painting. A paint brush is included and stored in a holder on the edge of the platform.

A storage bag is also included.

Sandra Rayner has created some pretty off the page items. I particularly love the Sending you oceans of love hessian backed  frame which you could make into a photo frame.

Cathy Andronicou gives us advice on a technique I haven’t tried before. I will definitely be soon though.

Embossed brushstroke stamping gives a different look to your stamps. You need a stamping platform and heat gun for this technique. A dusting bag and a fine paintbrush are also very helpful to prevent stray embossing powder spoiling your work.

You can use this look using ink pads, pens, brushes and more. Each one gives a different look so you need to have a play first I think. Using a pen is best for inking te smaller fiddly parts of a stamp.

Try something new this month is a Faux tie-die technique using most paints, pigment powders and inks. Dripped onto watercolour card then sprayed with water and allowed to dry will give you some lovely backgrounds. If you want to add more colours just let the watercolour card dry first then repeat the process. I love these backgrounds used with the white silhouette die cuts. Lovely cards for all occasions.

More makes designed by Marie Jones using this months freebies including the bonus digital downloads. There is a simple last minute card through to a pretty shaker style card.
I do think the cut and emboss folder make life a lot easier as there is no fussy cutting the middle out of a standard embossing folder.

This In-depth guide is to…. Collage stamping. Some mixed-media pieces can look a little bit overwhelming to create but Tracey Rogers show us how to build up this great piece layer by layer. I love it and should try mixed-media crafting more often.

As usual please let me know if you want any more details. Take care, Sue xx

Thank you so much Sue for a fantastic magazine review, the sea themed freebies will work great with our new Seaside stamps!  The tie-dye technique looks fun and worth a try!!  I love the Collage stamping feature too, all in all a great magazine,  thanks again my lovely XXX

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Love and hugs to all of you,

Sandra                                                                     xxxxxx
